Greenstein Receives a Boost . . . Twice

Justin "Boosted J" Smith was in the small blind while Barry Greenstein was in the big. The latter was all in for his last 80,000 holding {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} against the {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Smith. While he was behind, the {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{A-Clubs} flop was kind to Greenstein, giving him a flush draw. The {5-Hearts} turn gave him that flush and assured his double.

A few hands later, Greenstein raised from the hijack only to have Daniel Idema reraise from the button. Greenstein called all in and was in a dominating position.

Greenstein: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Idema: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}

The board ran out a clean {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Greenstein double yet again.

Idema Dominating

Daniel Idema raised in the cutoff and Justin Smith called from the big blind. On all three streets of the {A-Spades}{7-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Diamonds} board, Smith check-called an Idema bet. Idema turned over {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for top pair and Smith mucked as his stack dwindled to 200,000.

Isaac Haxton Eliminated in 7th Place ($55,908)

Isaac Haxton out in 7th place.
Isaac Haxton out in 7th place.

Isaac Haxton raised from early position and was soon three-bet by Steve Landfish from the button. The blinds got out of the way and Haxton called off for 56,000 total.

Haxton: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Landfish: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

"I have two overs," Landfish observed. While the {2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop did not his one of his cards, it did provide him with the nut-flush draw. The {7-Diamonds} turn gave him the said flush, leaving Haxton in want of a seven or ten on the river. Unfortunately for him, the {K-Spades} river was neither and he was sent to the rail in seventh place.

One man who wasn't happy about the elimination was Haxton's good friend Justin Bonomo, who had just arrived to watch his friend in action. Right after the bust, Bonomo tweeted: "Sigh. Bonomo curse in full effect. Showed up to cheer on @ikepoker at his FT and he busted the second hand i was there for :("

Ike Getting Shorter

In a battle of the blinds, Isaac Haxton raised from the small and Daniel Idema called from the big. Haxton led out on the {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop and Idema answered with a raise. Haxton called and both players checked the {2-Spades} on the turn. Haxton check-called Idema’s bet when the {10-Spades} hit the river and Idema turned over {K-Spades}{4-Spades} for flopped trips that became the nut flush by the end. Haxton mucked as his stack continued to shrink.

Gallin Movin' On Up

In a rare three-way hand, Domenico Denotaristefani raised, Barry Greenstein called on the button and Matthew Gallin joined them from the small blind. All three players checked the {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop which led to the {8-Diamonds} on the turn where Gallin checked again. Denotaristefani bet this time and Greenstein folded but Gallin stuck around. Both players checked the {10-Hearts} river and Gallin turned over {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} for the winner.

Greenstein Runs Into Quads

Matthew Gallin raised under the gun and received a call from Steve Landfish on the button, Justin Smith in the small blind, and Barry Greenstein in the big. Smith proceeded to check the {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Greenstein bet, Gallin called, and the other two players got out of the way.

Greenstein immediately put out a bet on the {7-Spades} turn and Gallin quickly called off his last 59,000, showing {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for quads. Greenstein was drawing dead with his {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Gallin doubled.

Matthew Gallin 370,000 230,000 pos
Barry Greenstein 329,000 -151,000 neg

Haxton Spikes a Double

Isaac Haxton all in & doubles up.
Isaac Haxton all in & doubles up.

Barry Greenstein raised in the cutoff and after quite a bit of thought, Isaac Haxton three-bet from the small blind. Greenstein re-raised and Haxton called all in to put his tournament life at risk.

Greenstein: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Haxton: {A-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

The flop was a kind one to Haxton as it came {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} to pull him into the lead. Greenstein would need to hit a ten or some kind of running straight or flush cards to eliminate Haxton. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn meant that Haxton would have to avoid a ten or a queen now to survive. The river was the {8-Clubs} and Haxton won the hand to double up.

Chip counts/puntos
Barry Greenstein 480,000 -195,000 neg
Isaac Haxton 280,000 -3,000 neg

Short-Stacked Gallin Doubles

Matthew Gallin raised from the button and Daniel Idema shrugged before putting in a reraise from the big blind. To call would cost Gallin the rest of his chips, and that is exactly what he did.

Gallin: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Idema: {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

The board ran out a clean {2-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Gallin doubled, though he is still short stacked.

Chip counts/puntos
Daniel Idema 1,330,000 -70,000 neg
Matthew Gallin 140,000 -118,000 neg

Big Pot to Idema

Daniel Idema raised from middle position only to have Steve Landfish three-bet from the cutoff. The button and blinds got out of the way, while Idema decided to call. When the flop fell {J-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Spades}, Idema check-raised Landfish's bet, only to have Landfish raise it again. Idema made the call. Idema then led out on the {3-Clubs} turn, which Landfish called.

The same action occurred on the {K-Clubs} river and Idema showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, which was good enough to win the pot.
