Raise Off the Orange

Play has temporarily halted as tournament officials race off the orange T1,000 chips.

Lehavot Finds a Pair on the River

Tommy Vinas opened for 54,000 and Amir Lehavot called. The {J-Spades} {6-Hearts} {8-Clubs} brought checks from both players, but the {9-Spades} turn saw Lehavot bet 66,000. Vinas called and the {Q-Clubs} came on the turn. Both players checked and Lehavot tabled {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} and Vinas mucked his hand.

Stein Lays Down to Vinas' Three-Bet

Sam Stein raised to 51,000 under the gun only to face a reraise from Tommy Vinas for 92,000 more. Stein wasted little time in folding his hand and moving on to the next.

Stein Gets It on the River

With a board reading {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, Stephen Chidwick bet 60,000 and was called by Sam Stein. When the {6-Diamonds} peeled off on the river, Chidwick checked, Stein fired out 106,000, and Chidwick quickly released.

Eric Cloutier Eliminated in 7th Place ($87,702)

Eric Cloutier opened for 57,000 from late position and Amir Lehavot raised on the button to 120,000. Cloutier called and the flop fell {9-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {6-Spades}. Cloutier sat still for several moments before eventually checking. Lehavot bet 75,000 and Cloutier almost instantly went all in. Lehavot called and the hands were tabled:

Cloutier: {Q-Spades} {7-Spades}
Lehavot: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

The turn brought the {8-Spades} giving Cloutier a flush draw. But he bricked on the river when it came {2-Clubs}. Cloutier left the final table area and Lehavot is up to 2,100,000.

McLean Karr Eliminated in 8th Place ($67,596)

Action folded to McLean Karr on the button and he raised to 75,000. Sam Stein, in the big blind, re-raised the pot. Karr put the the rest of his stack, roughly 350,000, into the middle and Stein called.

Karr: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Stein: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

"I race well!" said an excited Karr. Stein chuckled, hoping that would not be the case this time.

The flop came down {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades} and put Karr ahead with top pair. The {7-Clubs} turn kept him there, but the river delivered a cruel {4-Clubs} to give Stein a set, ending Karr's tournament in 8th place.

Stein, meanwhile, upped his stack to about 1,500,000.

Michael Benvenuti Eliminated in 9th Place ($52,406)

Stephen Chidwick raised to 50,000 from the hijack only to have Michael Benvenuti bet pot, leaving himself just 64,000 behind. The blinds got out of the way and Chidwick made the call. When the flop came down {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, Chidwick led out and Benvenuti committed his remaining chips.

Benvenuti: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}
Chidwick: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

Chidwick's sixes were ahead, but Benvenuti was a favorite with his plethora of draws. The {8-Spades} turn left Chidwick looking for an ace, king, queen, or club to win the pot, but it was not in the cards as the {J-Diamonds} paired the board. Chidwick's small pocket pair held to eliminate Benvenuti in ninth place.
