"From 600 to 30k Pot"
Normally we come up with our own headlines for these little reports. But this one was suggested to us by a couple of players at the table -- Freddy Deeb (in the hand) and Andy Frankenberger (an observer). And it seems to highlight the most remarkable aspect of the following hand quite well.
It started humbly, with a completion by the small blind and a check by Freddy Deeb in the big. Then came the flop, a nifty-looking . The small blind checked, and Deeb pushed out a bet of 600 -- the "600" of our headline. The small blind called.
Then came the turn -- the -- joining the other three cards as though they were a row of well-choreographed dancers. The small blind checked again, and Deeb bet 2,000 this time. Deeb's opponent made the call.
The river was the doesn't-really-belong-here . (Really, what was that card doing out on the stage?) The small blind tanked again, and Deeb made a huge overbet by pushing all in. The small blind had about 13,000 left, and tanked for some time before emerging to make the call. That made a pot close to 30K (again, see headline).
The small blind showed for a straight flush to the seven, but Deeb had for the higher straight flush. Deeb scores yet another knockout, and now sits with about 80,000.
