ElkY Triples Up

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A very short-stacked Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier moved all in for 18,000 the first hand after the bubble and was called by Andrew Wayman. It was folded to Kevin Schulz who reraised to 34,000. This raise caused some confusion for Wayman who decided to err on the side of caution and fold. Grospellier turned over {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and was against Schulz's {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. The PokerStars Team Pro would take control of the hand on the {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} and with the {2-Diamonds} on the turn the triple up was secured. He still has work to do with just 62,000 in chips but is at least still alive at this point in the tournament.

Sorensen Doubles Through Hawkins

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Edward Sorensen found himself all in for his last 80,000 against Maurice Hawkins in the big blind. The hands were revealed to find Sorensen out in front.

Sorensen: {K-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Hawkins: {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The board fell {5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}, keeping Sorensen's cowboys out in front. He scored the double and now has about 170,000 in chips.

River Busts Kern on Bubble

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Arne Kern
Arne Kern

Arne Kern got his last 93,000 in before the flop and was called by Ambrose Ng.

Ng: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Kern: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Kern found the pair he needed as the flop came {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. A {3-Hearts} turn made things dicey though, as it gave Ng a flush draw. A black card hit the river, but it was the {10-Clubs}, giving Ng a set and Kern a painful bubble out.

One More to Go

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Connor Drinan busted just before the money bubble.
Connor Drinan busted just before the money bubble.

Chance Kornuth opened for a raise in early position and got three-bet to 25,500 by Connor Drinan in the cutoff. Kornuth came back with 55,500, and Drinan jammed for about 180,000. Kornuth called.

Kornuth: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Drinan: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

Drinan couldn't find any help on the {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Spades} board, and Kornuth scored the knockout with queens full. The tournament is now one elimination from the money.

Helder Doubles Through Boeree

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

On a {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop, Jason Helder was all in for his last 84,000 when we arrived at Table 13, with Liv Boeree putting him at risk.

Boeree: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Helder: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

A {j-Clubs} turn gave Boeree still more outs, but the {9-Hearts} river was a brick, ensuring Helder's survival.

Another Bubble Double

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jonathan Roy raised all in for about 30,000 from early position and found a call from Naoya Kihara on the button. The blinds folded and the hands were placed on their backs.

Roy showed {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and was in bad shape against Kihara's {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}. Fortunately for the Canadian, the dealer fanned a {Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, giving him a set of queens and the lead in the hand. Roy retained his lead through the turn ({6-Diamonds}) and the river ({7-Hearts}) to ensure his renewed life in the Main Event.

Leonardo Emperador
Leonardo Emperador

Tim Reilly opened with a raise and a short-stacked Leonardo Emperador moved all in for his last 8,500 from the button. Action folded back to Reilly who called.

Reilly: {A-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Emperador: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board fell {4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Emperador survived his bubble all in. Despite this victory, he's still short with about 25,000.

Pastor Barrels Off to Busquet

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Olivier Busquet called a raise in the small blind from Juan Martin Pastor in middle position, and he check-called barrels of 8,000, 17,000, and 40,000 as the board ran out {2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Pastor showed {a-}{6-} on the end for ace-high, while Busquet had {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

It's a Cruel, Cruel River

Nivel 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A short-stacked Ludwig Fernstrom was all in and at risk holding {Q-}{Q-} against the {J-}{J-} of big stack Hugh Drummond. The nervous Fernstrom stood up from his chair and watched as the dealer put out the flop. It was a safe one for him as was the brick on the turn. No flushes or straights were possible and Fernstrom only needed to dodge a jack to stay alive.

You probably know how this story ends... a jack on the river. A loud expletive coming out of the mouth of Fernstrom as he finished just short of the money.

"Sorry dude," said Drummond as he added to his big stack.
