Karathanos Doubles via Ibrahim

Nivel 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Spyros Karathanos had three-bet to 20,000 versus Tamer Ibrahim's open, and was faced with a four-bet jam by his opponent with the covering stack.

Karathanos, who had 73,500 behind, engaged in some chatter with Ibrahim, who assured him he was strong.

The table talk might have persuaded Karathanos to go for it, as after a minute or so of more thought he made the call.

Spyros Karathanos: QJ All in
Tamer Ibrahim: AK

Ibrahim was ahead, but Karathanos smashed the Q98 flop, hitting top pair and a straight draw. He improved to the straight on the 10 turn, and the 4 river confirmed his double-up.

Abrahamsson Puts Rydahl in the Tank

Nivel 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Action was picked up on the river of J4627. Daniel Abrahamsson was all-in for 60,000. The pot stood at around 100,000 with four to a flush on board.

Frederik Rydahl went deep into the tank and asked for a count as he contemplated his decision. After around three minutes, he folded his hand and left Abrahamsson with the pot.

Oprea Uses Stack to Force Haxhaj Out

Nivel 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Peter Oprea opened from middle position, and Fatos Haxhaj & Martin Tsvetanov called in the blinds.

On the A8J flop, it checked to Oprea, who fired 7,500. Haxhaj called, and Tsvetanov folded.

A 6 dropped on the turn and after Haxhaj checked, Oprea shoved. Haxhaj had around 35,000 chips behind and didn't need to think for too long before he folded, which meant Oprea added to his stack.

Grudev Jams Turn

Nivel 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Grudi Grudev opened to 5,000 under the gun and received a call from Alessandro Adinolfo in the next seat.

Grudev continued on the J66 flop with a bet of 6,000, which failed to shake off Adinolfo.

The 2 hit on the turn, and Adinolfo quickly folded to Grudev's 19,500 jam.

Yuan Doubles Through Nanos

Nivel 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Bin Yuan was joking with his tablemates about a rather large melon positioned on his chair.

"How much did you pay for it?" someone asked. "It could be a card protector!" someone else said.

Yuan then raised to 16,000 leaving himself just 1,000 behind. It folded to Konstantinos Nanos who three-bet and Yuan put the rest of his chips in.

Bin Yuan: 88 All in
Konstantinos Nanos: 33

There were no issues for Yuan on the 76255 board and he, and his melon, doubled up.

The road to PokerStars European Poker Tour glory always has plenty of twists and turns, and the record-breaking 2023 EPT €5,300 Prague Main Event was no exception.

Jon Kyte, who had led the tournament from Day 3, entered the finale with 229 big blinds and a historic chip lead, one that was assumed to be unassailable. Padraig O'Neill had other ideas and was unexpectedly awarded the final EPT Trophy of the 2023 season after overcoming the Norwegian in heads-up play.

Known affectionately as "Smidge" in the Irish poker community, O'Neill came into the day as the shortest stack and turned his 12 big blinds into a €1,030,000 payout. With the victory, he became Ireland's second-ever EPT Main Event champion, 11 years after Steve O'Dwyer reigned supreme in Monte Carlo.
