The final duel felt like a roller coaster last January at the Casino de Marrakech inside the Es Saadi Resort. After a two-and-a-half-hour-long heads-up battle where both players had opportunities to win, Max Deveson was finally crowned the champion of the 2024 WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event.
Deveson is now the proud owner of a WSOP Circuit ring and took home 2,150,000 MAD (approximately €200,000). Obviously exhausted and disappointed, Antoine Delorme finished in second place out of a field of 1,163 entrants, going home with 1,550,000 MAD (€143,000).
2024 WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event Final Table Results
Lucien Cohen in early position moved all-in for 40,000. The cutoff three-bet to 32,000, and Nikolaos Mastrantonas in the big blind seemed tempted but folded.
Lucien Cohen: 7♥6♥
Cutoff: 10♣10♠
Cohen looked pretty happy to run into tens after he flopped a straight draw on 8♠2♥5♣. However the K♠5♦ didn't improve his hand and he was eliminated.
While Alexandre de Zutter is approaching 1,000,000 chips, Michail Tastanis to his left was on the button when he opened to 13,000. Birger Larsen in the big blind three-bet all-in for approximately 100,000 and Tastanis called.
Birger Larsen: A♠3♠
Michail Tastanis: K♦K♥
Tastanis' kings held on 10♥3♣J♦9♣6♦ and Larsen was eliminated.
Rachid El Yaacoubi opened to 12,000 from early position, but Paul Tedeschi three-bet to 36,000 from middle position. Frédéric Delval to his left four-bet to 103,000, then El Yaacoubi raised all-in for 219,000.
Tedeschi went deep into the tank but folded, while Delval called with the 6,000 he had left.
Frédéric Delval: A♥A♣
Rachid El Yaacoubi: J♠J♥
The board of 8♦5♦3♣6♣5♣ didn't change anything and Delval secured a double up.
