A Little Bit of Limit Hold'em With a Side of Chinese Poker

Nivel 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We've seen a few players this year playing Chinese poker on their iPads against the computer or with a railbird. But we have yet to to see two players playing each other in Chinese from across the table. That is until we saw Sorel Mizzi and Eli Elezra playing on an iPad that they have been passing to one another. Their game must be far more interesting than the tournament because Mizzi just had to be reminded that the action was on him.

Negreanu Drops a Small One

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu raised to 300 from early position only to have the player in the cutoff raise to 450. The blinds got out of the way and Negreanu made the call. Both players proceeded to chop the {8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} flop, leading to the {2-Diamonds} on the turn. Negreanu checked, the cutoff bet, and Negreanu said, "You win."

Indeed, Negreanu tossed his cards into the muck and gave up on the hand.

You’re Not a Little Girl To Us Mr. Chiu

Nivel 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

David Chiu raised from middle position and got three-bet by the next player to act. He made the call and all three streets on the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds} board went check check. Chiu showed {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and his opponent mucked. After the hand, another player asked Chiu if everything was okay and Chiu responded with “I played it like a little girl”. Nevertheless, he raked in the pot and was up to around 14,000 after the hand.

Another Deep Run for Turner?

Nivel 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

After a very impressive third place performance earlier in Event #8 $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em good for $274,005, Jon Turner is back at it again. We just found him raking in the pot with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for the flopped nut flush on a {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{X-} board. He is off to a decent start in this event so far and is up to 10,700 right before our first break.
