Brett Shaffer Eliminated In 10th Place ($28,517)

On the very first hand of the unofficial final table of 10, Brett Shaffer was eliminated in 10th place.

Diana Allen raised to 60,000 from middle position, Jason Somerville re-raised to 155,000 from late position, and Brett Shaffer moved all in for 475,000 from the cutoff. Everyone folded around to Somerville who made the call.

Shaffer had {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Somerville had {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Somerville eliminated Shaffer to set the official final table of nine.

Lex Veldhuis Eliminated in 11th Place ($28,517)

From the button, Alex Martin raised to 44,000 and Lex Veldhuis immediately announced he was all in for his final 550,000. The big blind folded and Martin thought for a bit before making the call. His {a-Spades}{j-Spades} was behind the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} of Veldhuis as the two players eagerly anticipated the flop.

It came down {3-Clubs}{q-Spades}{9-Spades}. Veldhuis hit his Queen but it wasn't exactly a good flop for him as Martin picked up a spade draw. The turn bricked with the {2-Diamonds} but the river wasn't as friendly to Veldhuis. The {7-Spades} hit and not only sends Veldhuis to the rail, but gets us down to our unofficial final table.

Atkins Gets There

Nivel 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

With action folded around to the button, Jason Somerville raised to 40,000 before Travis Atkins raised to 80,000 from the small blind. After asking for a count of Atkins chips (he had 800,000 to start the hand), Somerville made the call.

The flop came {2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Atkins bet 95,000. Somerville made the call and the turn was the {4-Diamonds}. Once again Atkins bet, this time 150,000. Again, Somerville made the call. The river was the {j-Spades} and after some thought, Atkins checked, as did Somerville. Atkins immediately flipped over {j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and started walking away from the table. It was tough to tell if he was mad that Somerville didn't bet or relieved that the river gave him the 650,000 chip pot that he likely wouldn't have won otherwise. Either way, he has now crossed the million chip mark while Somerville falls below it.

Alex Martin raised to 44,000 and James Schaaf flatted from the button. Thomas Conway moved all in from the small blind and Martin isolated by moving all in himself. Schaaf got out of the way and the hands were turned face up.

Martin: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
Conway: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

The board ran a dry {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Conway exits in 12th place.

Allen Gives Chip Lead To Darian

Yashar Darian
Yashar Darian

Yashar Darian raised it up to 50,000 preflop from early position and Diana Allen called from late position.

The flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Darian bet out 75,000. Allen called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Darian bet out 125,000. Allen took her time then re-raised to 375,000. Darian also took his time and looked as though he was contemplating a re-raise, but he just called.

The river was a {10-Hearts} and Darian checked. Allen checked behind. Darian showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for the nut flush and Allen mucked. Darian is our new chip leader but may have been even higher up had he incited some action on the river. He is at 1,500,000 and Allen is down to almost exactly 1,000,000.

Conway Doubles Through Martin

Nivel 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

With just 276,000 left, Thomas Conway moved all in from the cutoff. It folded to Alex Martin in the big blind who squeezed his cards and made the call.

Conway: {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Martin: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The flop was {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and the outcome looked bleak for Conway. He needed a Six or Seven while avoiding the pair and gut-shot straight redraw outs of Martin. Running diamonds would get him there as well. The turn paired his six with the {6-Spades}, leaving Martin ten outs to get us down to 11 players. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Conway will stay alive. He now has 575,000 while Martin is on a skid down to 1,200,000.
