Smithern's Stack Squandered Away

Nivel 8 : 200/400, 50 ante
Claude Smithern
Claude Smithern

Our token elder has just made his exit.

With just a several hundred left, Claude Smithern limped from middle position and was accompanied by both the small and big blind.

Everyone checked the {Q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop. When the {6-Diamonds} came on the turn, the big blind led out for 300 and both Smithern and the small blind called.

The river came {7-Diamonds} and it was checked down. Smithern showed {A-}{10-} for ace-high and his opponent showed {3-}{4-} for the bottom-end of the straight.

With just 100 left, Smithern was anted down to his last 25 and he chose not to look at his hand.

A player called from early position and the player on the button raised to 1300. The limper called.

Both players checked down to the river on the {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and the original limper went all-in. The button folded and the bettor revealed {7-}{7-} for a straight. Smithern would need exactly {7-}{8-} to claim the pot, but he revealed {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, ending his tournament life.
