Geyer Sets Trap, But Gets Crippled

Kirk Caldwell opened to 52,000 from early position, and Adam Geyer called in the cutoff seat. The flop fell down {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and Caldwell continued for 77,000. Geyer raised to 180,000, Caldwell moved all in for 675,000, and Geyer snapped it off.

Caldwell: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Geyer: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Geyer was in rough shape, and needed an ace, six, a running pair or running straight cards to make the best hand. He did not when the turn and river came {q-Spades}, {3-Clubs} however, and is now nursing the shortest stack in the room.

Pham Kimphuc Eliminated in 17th Place ($23,861)

Pham Kimphuc

Pham Kimphuc moved all in preflop and action folded around to Kirk Caldwell who made the call.

Kimphuc: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Caldwell: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

Kimphuc was ahead preflop and it stayed that way as the flop came {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The turn brought the {A-Spades}, making Caldwell need a jack and only a jack to send Kimphuc home. Unfortunately for Kimphuc, the {J-Diamonds} peeled off on the river and he was sent packing, collecting $23,861 for his efforts.

Stevens Doubles Through Kimphuc

Pham Kimphuc opened to 54,000 from the hijack seat, Martin Stevens moved all in for 134,000 from the cutoff, and the action folded back to Kimphuc who called.

Kimphuc: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Stevens: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

Both players were on the edge of their seats as the flop came down {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

"Club!" Kimphuc blurted.

The turn was black, and Kimphuc jumped at the sight of it, but the {10-Spades} did not change anything. Both players leapt out of their chairs when the {5-Hearts} hit the river - Stevens in celebration, and Kimphuc in frustration.

"Sick," Kimphuc sighed.

Stevens could hardly contain himself, rubbing his hands together and patting his legs excitedly. He has reason to be galvanized - he now as over 300,000 chips.
