Pollak's Gone

It could have been the story of the year, according to Gary Pollak. He was hopeful of coming back from being crippled down to just 4,000 in chips, but it wasn't to be. He got those into the middle before the flop with {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, but ran into Vanessa Selbst's {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

Selbst improved to a seat after the board was spread {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and alas, there will be no fairytale for Pollak today.

Hougaard Eliminated by Ressler

Thee players paid 7,000 each to see a flop of {5-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}. We're not sure how the action went at this point, but we do know that Jesper Hougaard got all his money in with {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and was up against the {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{A-Hearts} of Joseph Ressler.

Hougaard was ahead with his pair of nines and open-ended straight draw, but Ressler had outs to a spade and an eight. The {6-Diamonds} turn didn't change much, but the {2-Spades} river gave Hougaard his straight. Unfortunately for him, it also gave Ressler the flush. Hougaard was eliminated on the hand.

Ristola Rolled Out

We're now down to 44 players as the action continues here in the Amazon Room and amongst the first four eliminations was Markus Ristola.

All the money was in the middle pre-flop; Ristola had committed the last of his stack in with {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{4-Spades}, but Vanessa Selbst's {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} improved to trips after the dealer spread the board of {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. As a result, Selbst is now up to 520,000.

We can also confirm that Joseph Cheong has been eliminated. While we weren't able to catch the action, we did see him being escorted out of the room by the tournament staff to collect his cash.

Brooks Books Biggest Pot Of Tournament

Greg Brooks
Greg Brooks

About 20 minutes ago, Blaz Svara had 400,000, and was the chip leader of the tournament. Now, he is out, and Gregory Brooks inherited most of his stack. We caught the big hand on the turn, with the board reading {9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Spades}. Brooks put out a bet of 43,000, and Svara announced pot. There was a lengthy discussion at the table as to whether Svara was all in, and it was ultimately determined that he was. Once Brooks found out that Svara was all in, he made the call, and saw that he had Svara drawing dead.

Brooks: {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Svara: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{x-}

Svara had the ace of spades, but no other spade, and Brook's second nut flush was good enough to take the pot. The meaningless river was the {j-Clubs}, and now Brooks is the overwhelming chip leader with 750,000.

Devilfish Don't Wear Headphones

Nivel 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Now that the remaining players are in the money, WSOP rules state that headphones must be removed. David "Devilfish" Ulliott and Erick Lindgren were just debating the merits of the rule with the former player serving as the advocate.

"It slows the games up," Devilfish said about headphones. "This isn't no limit where you can play in your sleep. People want to know what's going on in this game."

Matthew Ezrol Is Our Bubble Boy

Nivel 15 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Tommy Le raised it up to 7,000 from the cutoff and Matthew Ezrol re-raised pot from the small blind. Le called to see a flop of {5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and immediately put Ezrol all in for his last 3,000 or so with Ezrol calling.

Ezrol: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Le: {j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

As we said above, the flop was {5-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Ezrol was in the lead, the turn {9-Diamonds} made no difference, but the {q-Spades} river gave Le two-pair and he said, "Sorry man, hate to knock out the guy on the bubble." The two shook hands and Ezrol stormed off, understandably frustrated.

Now that we are in the money we should see play pick up and eliminations left and right.

Pollak Gets Double Up On Bubble

Vanessa Selbst came into the pot for a raise to 7,000, and Gary Pollak called. Action folded to Chris Moorman in the big blind, who announced a pot size raise worth 29,500. Selbst quickly folded, and Pollak called, leaving himself just 11,500. Those chips went into the middle when the flop came {9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}. The two players flipped their cards over, and Pollak had outflopped Moorman.

Moorman: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Pollack: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The turn came the {2-Hearts}, and the river brought the {4-Spades}, and Pollack survived the hand to up his stack to 92,000.
