A Chance to Succeed

Nivel 9 : 300/600, 75 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

We're telling you, the field was packed with familiar faces. So much so that we didn't even notice bracelet winner Chance Kornuth in the room until just a moment ago. You know, the guy who won a half-million dollars and the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha title?

All right, here's a picture to jog your memory. Kornuth looks like he intends on keeping himself notable here this evening, becoming the first player we've seen to cross the 100,000-chip mark.

The stacks are growing around him, though.

Levy Leaves

Nivel 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

"Fives to ace-king," Adam Levy said as he whooshed past us. "Standard."

That's all we need to know. "Roothlus" lost a race, and he's been relieved of the remainder of his short stack.

Parker Doubles Marquez

Nivel 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

Ana Marquez shoved from early position for 4,425 and action folded all the way to Brock Parker on the button. Park pushed out a 20,000 stack to isolate Marquez and the blinds folded. The hands were tabled and they're off to the shutout.

Marquez: {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs}
Parker: {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}

The board ran {10-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {8-Spades} {7-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} and Marquez doubled with a straight.

Waking Up With Aces

Nivel 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

A player in early position open-shoved for 8,800, and Lars Bonding three-bet all in over the top. It's a dream spot to look down at aces behind that action, and that's just what happened as a third player called all in for 14,450 with {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}. The first shover had {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, and Bonding was trying to play the role of spoiler with his third-best {8-Diamonds} {8-Spades}.

The board ran out {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Spades} {6-Hearts}, and Bonding couldn't find an out. He's doubled up the aces, slipping down to just 8,000 now.

"Let Me Punch You In the Face Before We Start."

Nivel 8 : 250/500, 50 ante

It's not just all poker in the Pavilion Room.

Steve Watts and Gavin Smith are seated at the same table and seem to be hitting it off. The last pass we made at their table Smith, Watts and another player were discussing some sort of arm wrestling bet. Watts, who happens to have the opposite body type of Smith, was trying to negotiate a fair bet.

"You're not understanding how weak I am," Smith said. "Let me use both hands and punch you in the face right before we start and we may have a bet."

Watts didn't seem too keen on the punch to the face but using two hands may have been an option.
