Esfandiari Doubles Through Driscoll

Jonathan Driscoll raised to 32,000 from the button and Antonio Esfandiari called from the big blind. The flop came {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the fireworks began. Esfandiari checked, Driscoll bet 32,000, Esfandiari raised to 86,000, and Driscoll then re-raised to 140,000. Not to be outdone, Esfandiari put in yet enother raise to 215,000 total. Driscoll opted to simply call and the {a-Clubs} fell on the turn. Esfandiari only had a little over 200,000 left in his stack and checked the action to Driscoll who put out two green chips equaling 50,000. Esfandiari then pushed in a raise to 150,000 and Driscoll immediately said he was all in.

Esfandiari snap-called and Driscoll cried "You better not have a better kicker" and groaned in agony when Esfandiari showed his {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. Driscoll flipped over his {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and the entire table waited to see what the river would bring. The {k-Hearts} came giving Esfandiari a full house and the double up.

Tamas Lendvai Eliminated in 12th Place ($26,192)

Tamas Lendvai - Eliminated in 12th Place ($26,192)

Tamas Lendvai decided to raise it up from the cutoff, making it 36,000 to go. Jonathan Lane defended his big blind with a call and the players watched a flop of {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} hit the table.

Lane checked it to Lendvai, who fired a bet of 43,000 into the middle. This was met by a check raise to 155,000 by Lane and Lendvai thought hings over for a minute or so. He eventually settled on an all-in shove and was disheartened to hear Lane instantly make the call with authority in his voice.

He flipped up his {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a flopped flush, and when he saw Lendvai's {J-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, Lane did a little shimmy to celebrate his enormous lead in the hand. The {6-Hearts} on the turn ended the proceedings and Lendvai was drawing dead. After the {3-Spades} on the river made things official, he hit the rail in 12th place.

David Baker Eliminated in 13th Place ($20,521)

Nivel 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
David Baker - 13th place
David Baker - 13th place

David "OBD" Baker came into play with a short stack and put it to the test several times during these first two levels. Recently, following a button raise by Andrew Teng, Baker pushed his stack of about 220,000 in the middle from the small blind and got a call from Teng. Baker had {A-Clubs}{9-Spades} and hopes of doubling versus Teng's {A-Hearts}{6-Spades}, but the board came {3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{J-Clubs} and the pair chopped the pot.

Just a couple of orbits later, Baker was all in again from under the gun for his last 180,000 and got a caller once more in Teng in the big blind. This time Baker held {Q-}{10-} and had run into Teng's {A-}{K-}. The board brought no help to Baker's hand, and he's out in 13th place.

Teng is now up to 930,000.

Hammerling Suckers Siegmund With Value

Nivel 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Philip Hammerling raised to 35,000 from early position and picked up Jeremiah Siegmund from the button. After the flop fell {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, the scare card froze both players into tapping the table.

The turn card came {7-Spades} and Hammerling checked once more, prompting Siegmund to fire a bet of 40,000. Hammerling called and the river card was the {3-Diamonds}.

Hammerling checked for a third time and Siegmund pounced on the show of weakness with a 55,000 bet. Now Hammerling paused for a minute before cutting out a raise, making it 134,000 to go.

Siegmund went into the tank and eventually asked the dealer "Am I allowed to ask him if he will after I fold?" When he was informed that he could do so, Siegmund asked Hammerling whether or not that deal sounded equitable. Hammerling responded by telling his opponent that he would show if Siegmund reciprocated and revealed his mucked hand.

An agreement was reached and Siegmund folded his {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} face up, and then watched as Hammerling smiled a bit while showing his {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}. The post-oak bluff had worked to perfection, and Siegmund was left questioning his play on the hand.

Jelger Wiegersma Eliminated in 14th Place ($20,521)

Action folded around to Jelger Wiegersma on the button who shoved all in. Philip Hammerling took little time in calling from the big blind.

Wiegersma: {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Hammerling: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The flop gave both players a pair when it came {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Hearts} but kept Hammerling in the lead. The turn and river were the {5-Clubs} and {5-Hearts} and Wiegersma was eliminated in 14th place.

Esfandiari Bleeding Chips

In the last two hands, Antonio Esfandiari has raised to 40,000 from late position, only to fold in the face of a three-bet.

In the first hand, The Magician raised from the button and Andrew Teng made it 108,000 to go. Esfandiari mucked but tried the same move on the very next hand, raising to 40,000 from the cutoff. This time, Eric Baudry reraised to 101,000 and Esfandiari slid his cards away.

A Pair of Cards

Nivel 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The table folded around to Tamas Lendvai who opened with a raise to 30,000 from the button. Jean Luc Marais checked his cards in the small blind, sat quietly for a moment, then reraised to 96,000. It folded back to Lendvai who waited just a moment before announcing he was all in. Marais quickly called with his remaining chips, and the pair tabled their cards.

Lendvai showed his first -- {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} -- then gave Marais a playful push when he showed he had {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}. The board ran out {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and the two chopped the pot.

"You call with that?!" said Lendvai with a big grin. "You go in with that," answered Marais. "Yeah," chimed Aaron Massey, sitting nearby. "You guys go all in without a pair?!? Craaaazy...."

"Yeah… can't believe he called me with just ace-high," chuckled Lendvai. Both players are still on the short side, Lendvai with 375,000 and Marais with 215,000.
