A Couple for Ly

Nivel 25 : 40,000/80,000, 20,000 ante

Hand #71

Brian Rast had the button. He raised to 185,000, Phil Hellmuth called out of the small blind, and Owais Ahmed defended his big. The flop fell {j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and Hellmuth led for 150,000. Ahmed mucked, and Rast raised to 525,000.

"Now I got you bluffing big!" Hellmuth laughed as he folded his hand.

Rast mucked the winner, and took down the pot.

Hand #72

Phil Hellmuth had the button. He raised to 225,000 on the button, and Minh Ly defended his big blind. The dealer fanned {9-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}, and Ly immediately led for 250,000. Hellmuth folded, and Ly took down the pot.

Hand #73

Owais Ahmed had the button. He limped in, Minh Ly completed from the small blind and Brian Rast checked his option in the big. The flop came down {a-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Ly led for 150,000, Rast called, and Ahmed folded.

The {6-Spades} turned, and both players checked.

The river was the {8-Diamonds}, and both players checked again. Ly opened up {9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Rast mucked, and Ly won the pot.

Ahmed Shoves River and Shows

Nivel 25 : 40,000/80,000, 20,000 ante

Hand #70

Minh Ly had the button to start this hand. Owais Ahmed raised to 205,000 and Ly called on the button. Phil Hellmuth called from the big blind and the flop came down {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Hellmuth checked first and then Ahmed bet 255,000. Ly made the call and Hellmuth folded.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}. Ahmed bet 325,000 and Ly called to see the {10-Hearts} pair the board on the turn. Ahmed moved all in for 990,000. Ly folded and Ahmed showed the {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

Matt Glantz Eliminated in 5th Place ($376,750)

Nivel 24 : 30,000/60,000, 15,000 ante
Matt Glatnz - 5th Place
Matt Glatnz - 5th Place

Hand #67

The button began with Brian Rast on this hand. Minh Ly started the hand under the gun and raised to 130,000. Matt Glantz was in the next spot and took his time as he generally does before making the call. Phil Hellmuth called from the small blind and then Owais Ahmed called from the big blind.

The flop came down four ways with only Rast sitting out. It came {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Hellmuth was first up. He led out for 250,000 and Ahmed folded. Ly didn't go away so easily and took his time prior to making the call. Glantz also took some time to mull things over. Glantz then raised all in for 2.415 million in chips. Hellmuth immediately said, "I need a count."

Hellmuth began to tank while shuffling chips and leaning over the table. He eventually stopped the shuffling to remove his sunglasses. He then returned to shuffling chips and staring at the board in the middle of the table. With a grimace on his face, Hellmuth gave it up, although he didn't release his hand, looking like he wanted to show. Now action moved to Ly.

Ly also didn't fold right away. He sat with both elbows on the table while Hellmuth walked away from the table and stood next to Brian Rast. We overheard what he said on his mic to Rast and Hellmuth mentioned that he folded, "Ace-seven of diamonds." Whether or not that's true, we won't know until we see the broadcast with the holecards.

Ly tanked for a minute or two longer and then made the call. He held the {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} and Glantz held the {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. It was Ly's top pair, top kicker versus Glantz's flush draw and straight draw combo.

"Wow, I folded aces and sevens!" yelled Hellmuth as the dealer prepared to deal the turn and river.

The burn went down and then the {10-Clubs} hit the turn, giving Glantz a pair of tens, although keeping him behind. The river card was then dealt low and black with the {3-Clubs}. Both fourth and fifth street missed Glantz and eliminated him in fifth place for $376,750. Ly won the hand and moved to 5.69 million in chips. Had Hellmuth stayed in the hand, his aces and sevens would have held up to give him a massive lead.

Hand #64

Owais Ahmed had the button. Phil Hellmuth opened to 160,000 from the cutoff and won the pot.

Hand #65

Minh Ly had the button. Phil Hellmuth opened to 180,000 from under the gun and won the pot.

Hand #66

Glantz Doubles Admist Some Controversy

Nivel 24 : 30,000/60,000, 15,000 ante
Matt Glantz
Matt Glantz

Hand #62

Brian Rast began this hand with the button and Minh Ly began the action with raise to 125,000 from under the gun. Matt Glantz was next to act and began to tank over his decision. He then moved all in for 1.24 million in chips. Action folded over to Owais Ahmed in the big blind and before he could act, Ly folded his hand out of turn, although we didn't see if he showed any cards or not. Glantz immediately said something about this. Ahmed eventually made the call and even commented after the hand, saying something along the lines of, "That made it easier for me to call," referring to Ly folding out of turn.

Glantz held the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Ahmed held the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Glantz was visibly upset that Ly folded out of turn and now had to await the fate of the flop, turn and river.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and Glantz stayed in front. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and the river the {K-Diamonds}. Glantz was able to fade the all-in situation and double up to 2.71 million in chips. Ahmed dropped to 2.295 million.

After the hand, Glantz warned Ly that if he does that again, he's going to really get upset and mad at him. He also said that he knows Ly and him are really good friends and it may have been an accident, but it also may not have. There was no penalty given to Ly on the hand. Brian Rast, who was not in the hand, also had some things to say about the situation, but it wasn't clear what he actually said.
