Color Up!

Nivel 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

The players have been sent on a 20-minute break while the green T25 chips are being colored up and raced off. In the meantime, here's a little bit of Dire Straits for you. It's not usually played at sports events, but it's a cool video. Enjoy.

Smith Misses a Sweat

Nivel 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

The player under the gun raised all in for 6,800 and it folded to Gavin Smith in the big blind. He made the call to put his opponent at risk.

Smith: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The flop his his opponent hard when it came {j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts} but the turn {8-Diamonds} gave Smith a sweat. Ultimately, it bricked off with the the {a-Spades} and Smith falls to 26,500.

Channing Doubles

Neil Channing and an opponent got their stacks all in preflop. Channing held {10-Spades} {10-Diamonds} and was up against {A-} {Q-}. The board ran {4-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} and Channing spiked his ten on the river for a double up to around 35,000.

Shawn Marion - dunked!
Shawn Marion - dunked!

Four-time NBA All-Star and Dallas Mavericks phenom Shawn "The Matrix" Marion has just been busted from WSOP Event #56 at the hands of Khiem Nguyen.

As Nguyen recalled to us, Marion shoved the last of his money into the middle with {A-}{4-} (suited), but Nguyen woke up with {k-}{k-}. The board improved neither hand and Marion's now on the bench for the remainder of this three-day long game.

Amazon No More

Nivel 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

The last remaining tables from the Amazon Room have finally joined the rest of the field in the Pavilion Room as promised. Eliminations have picked up steam with the blinds climbing and tournament officials have already broken an additional row of tables in the White section.

Leigh Hits Hand on Turn, So Does Opponent

Nivel 9 : 300/600, 75 ante

We found this hand developing on the flop between Jennifer Leigh, on the button, and an unknown player. The board was {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} and Leigh bet 1,650 after it was checked to her. Her opponent called and the turn came {J-Diamonds}. Her opponent checked again and Leigh bet out 4,000. He called and the river came {5-Spades}. Her opponent took the lead this time and bet 2,025.

Leigh wrinkled her face and announced raise, making it 7,025 to go. The player moved all in for only 2,000 more to Leigh and she called. Her opponent tabled {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} for a turned full house. Leigh sighed and flashed {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} making a flush on the turn. She's down to around 14,000 chips.

The Contenders

With Ben Volpe having soared out in front since the pre-dinner session of play, it's been hard to take our focus away from that mammoth stack. However, we dug a little deeper into the field and found several players that may have a chance to catch him:
