Watts Back From the Dead

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

It wasn't too long ago we caught Steve Watts with a chip stack of just 8,500. However, less than 20 minutes of play later he is up to 42,000 thanks in large part to winning a recent pot.

Watts three-bet from the small blind and received one caller. The flop came {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and he moved all in for his final 15,800. His remaining opponent made the call with {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} but was well behind the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} of Watts. The turn {4-Hearts} and river {7-Hearts} bricked off and Watts has regained a healthy amount of chips.

Jacks-Full for Le

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Duane Wellnitz raised to 1,700, Tommy Le called, and the flop fell {j-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. Wellnitz check-called 2,500 from Le, and the turn was the {a-Hearts}. Wellnitz checked, Le tossed in 2,000, and Wellnitz called.

Both players checked after the {5-Diamonds} completed the board, and Le opened up {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for jacks-full. Wellnitz mucked, and Le raked in the pot.

Lindley Loses a Race

Nivel 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

From early position, Tom McCormick raised to 2,000 and Christina Lindley called in middle position. The player in the cutoff moved all in for 16,200 and action folded back to Lindley. She studied the stack and then studied the player before announcing a call.

Lindley: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The flop was Yatzee flop for her opponent when it came down {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, although it did give Lindley some hope. The turn {8-Hearts} and river {4-Diamonds} bricked off though and Lindley is down to 48,000.

Players are now on a 20-minute break and the green T25 chips are being colored up as well.

Following two levels of play on Day 2a, the unofficial chip leader appears to be Aleksandr Mozhnyako with 274,100.

It's Meulder on the Dancefloor

Phil Gordon check-raised a 4,700 bet to 12,100 on the turn of a {9-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{A-Clubs} board against Matthias De Meulder but the Belgian made the call before also calling another 20,000 on the {8-Spades} river.

Gordon showed {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a rivered two pair but De Meulder held {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a better two pair.
