A Look at Some Chip Stacks

Hello, Phil "Unabomber" Laak!

Nivel 10 : 600/1,200, 0 ante
Phil Laak
Phil Laak

We haven't had much to report on Phil "Unabomber" Laak today, but he is holding steady over at Table #283. We understand that he is checking our updates on his fancy iPad, so we thought it only polie to say hello. "Hello, Mr. Unabomber!"

Seidel Four-Bets to Take It Down

Erik Seidel opened for 2,800 in middle position only to have John Dwyer three-bet to 7,100 from the button. After the blinds got out of the way, Seidel put in a four-bet to 19,800, which was enough to get Dwyer to fold.

Negreanu 1/14 for the Day

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Mike Watson was in early position and opened for a raise to 2,700. Action folded all the way around to Daniel Negreanu in the big blind and he decided to make the call. When the {6-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{A-Spades} was put out on the flop, Negreau check-called a bet of 3,000 from Watson, leading to the {9-Diamonds} on the turn.

Both players quickly checked, as they did on the {3-Diamonds} river. Negreanu showed {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a pair of jacks and it was good enough to take down the pot. Negreanu was quick to note that it was the first hand of fourteen player that he had won here on Day 2.

Haxton Pays Off Adeniya

We caught this hand on the river with a board reading {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}. Isaac Haxton was first to act and bet 7,500 only to be raised to 26,700 by Martins Adeniya in the cutoff. Haxton thought long and hard before annoucing a call.

Adeniya revealed {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} for a rivered Broadway straight. Haxton let out a sigh before tossing his cards in the muck.

Defending Champion Out; Frankenberger Follows

Nivel 10 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

We're not sure how it happened, but we can confirm that last year's $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em Champion, Valdemar Kwaysser, has been eliminated from the tournament.

Likewise, World Poker Tour Player-of-the-Year Andy Frankenberger was sent to the rail when he lost {A-}{10-} to the {A-}{K-} of David Benyamine in a blind versus blind battle.

The Sun Sets on Young

Justin Young
Justin Young

Justin Young was all in preflop for about 15,000 with {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} and up against the {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} of Sunny Chattha. It was a good spot for Young, but the {8-Spades}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop gave Chattha some added straight outs. However, it was the {J-Diamonds} turn that would ultimately lead to Young's demise as it paired Chattha to give him the lead. The {6-Hearts} blanked on the river and Young was eliminated here in Level 10.
