Sam Trickett - ISPT Ambassador

Nivel 40 : 600,000/1,200,000, 200,000 ante

Sam Trickett was born on July 2, 1986 in East Retford, in the United Kingdom. Initially a professional footballer at Hartlepool United, he had to stop his career in 2005 due to a knee injury. Then, he discovered poker - a game that offered him as much excitement and adrenaline as football.

He participated in various tournaments, and became a regular player, both online and live. In 2008, he won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Main Event, taking home $210,000.

Sam Trickett is one of the best professional players in recent years. He has played four WSOP final tables, and won the Partouche Poker Tour in 2011. In 2012, he landed the biggest score of his career, finishing second in the Big One for One Drop, winning over $10 million. He is currently ranked fourth in the All Time Money List with gains amounting to over $16 million.

Sam Trickett is the best poker player in England. Participating in the ISPT seemed obvious to him. "As a poker player, I have to be associated with such an enormous event. Being part of this tournament means being part of the history of poker" Sam Trickett said.

Hand #280: Merson Back Over 100MM

Nivel 40 : 600,000/1,200,000, 200,000 ante
Greg Merson
Greg Merson

Jesse Sylvia started this hand with the button. He raised to 2.6 million, and Greg Merson called from the big blind. The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, and Merson checked. Sylvia bet 2.2 million, and Merson called.

The turn was the {8-Spades}, and Merson led for 4.1 million. Sylvia took some time, then made the call to see the river.

On fifth street, the {7-Diamonds} landed. Merson checked, and Sylvia studied. After a few moments, he began reaching into his stack. He came out with a bet of 8.6 million. Merson didn't flinch for a little bit of time, but then snapped out of his stare and took a sip from his RedBull. He then placed both elbows on the rail and cupped his hands in front of his mouth. He thought for a bit longer, then announced a call.

Sylvia turned over the {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a pair of sixes. Merson showed the {J-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a pair of jacks and won the pot. With that pot, Merson climbed back over 100 million in chips.

Hand #279: Family Pot

Nivel 40 : 600,000/1,200,000, 200,000 ante

Greg Merson had the button, and limped. Jesse Sylvia completed from the small blind, Jake Balsiger checked his option in the big blind, and the flop fell {2-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades}. All three players checked.

The turn was the {7-Spades}, Sylvia and Balsiger checked again, and Merson fired two million. Sylvia and Balsiger both folded, and Merson picked up the pot.
