Kelly Makes Correct Call

We got to the table on the river, with the board reading {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs}. JP Kelly had position in a three handed pot against Stuart Elkin and Ernest Hou. With about 26,000 in the middle, Elkin checked to Hou, who fired out 13,500. Action was on Kelly, and he went deep into the tank. After about 3 minutes of motionless thinking, Anders Taylor called the clock. The floor arrived, and as soon as he gave Kelly a warning that he had 10 seconds left, Kelly tossed in the call.

Elkin folded, and Hou shook his head, and mucked his hand face down. Kelly had to table his hand to claim the pot, and he showed {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a pair of aces. After that hand, Kelly is up to 135,000.

Shorr Scoops Preflop

A player in early position open-limped and was raised to 4,500 by the player directly behind him. Right behind the raiser was Shannon Shorr, who thought for a bit and then re-popped it to 10,800 total. Action folded over to the original limper, who tanked, mumbled an expletive, and folded. The original raiser quickly folded and Shorr took down the pot.

Shorr is up to 70,000.

Tryba Eliminated, Onnit Players One Closer

Everyone taking part of the Onnit last longer just got one step closer to winning. Chris Tryba was eliminated by Tuan Le.

Tryba opened from under the gun, Le three-bet from the button and Tryba got it all in. Le called with pocket eights and Tryba held {A-} {K-}. Tryba never improved and was eliminated.

Fountain Leaks a Few

We have a number of big stacks here in the Purple section of the Amazon Room. Michael Hack has been sitting tight for the most part during Level 11, maintaining his large stack. The cowboy-hat-wearing Jeremy Allen has chipped up during the first hour-and-a-half, and Erik Hellman has added a few as well. And Mark Demirdjian continues to climb toward current leaders Jason Somerville and Michael Nasserazad.

Another player coming into today with a big stack is Jonathan Fountain. He, too, sits in Purple, and just now was involved in a three-way hand that began with a Fountain raise from early position to 3,400 followed by two callers (late position and big blind).

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. It checked to Fountain who bet 5,200 and only the late position player called. The turn was the {J-Hearts}, and when Fountain bet 9,300 his opponent tanked and then called again.

The river was the {6-Spades}. This time Fountain fired 18,300, and when his opponent quickly called, Fountain instantly mucked his hand without seeing what his opponent had. (Nor did anyone else, as he was strangely not made to show.)

After chipping up during the first part of Level 11, Fountain is now back about to where he began Day 3.

Hall Takes a Hit

Zachary Hall (Day 1b) takes a hit.
Zachary Hall (Day 1b) takes a hit.

Zachary Hall entered the day with over 300,000 chips, but has been cut down significantly after losing a big race to Robert Corcione. All of the chips went into the middle preflop, and Hall held {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against Corcione's {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

The board ran out {2-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and Corcione won the pot.

It took the dealer three attempts to count down Corcione's stack however, and each time it was less and less. Finally, after checking and re-checking, the count was 132,900, leaving Hall with around 118,500.
