A few hands later, Serra raised to 200,000 under the gun and Carlos Diaz called on the button. Alvarez then moved all in from the big blind, Serra called for 1,630,000, and Diaz got out of the way.

Serra had woken up with kings and was a big favorite to double up, but the Q♥8♥J♦ flop meant he had to dodge Alvarez's straight draw. The 6♥ turn took away some of Alvarez's outs as Serra picked up a flush draw, while the river was the 8♣ and Serra held on to take the pot.
