Jason Mo Leads After Day 1 of the $100,000 Challenge

Day 1 of the 2015 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge has come to a close. After a star-studded starting day that saw 63 entries generated, it was Jason Mo who finished on top with a stack of 637,000 in chips — more than six times what he and everyone else started the day with.

Mo's rise to the top started early when he busted Fabian Quoss in the second level of the day. That gave Mo an early big stack, but the real shot to the top came in the final level of the night when he doubled in a huge way through Jeff Rossiter.

On the hand against Rossiter, Mo was all in preflop with the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} for 235,200. Rossiter had the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}, and he wasn't able to come from behind after the board ran out {J-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. That put Mo with around 475,000 in chips, from which he moved up the ranks even more, including scooping a big one from Doug Polk.

Polk was the final elimination of the night, but he will still have the opportunity to return tomorrow if he would like to. Registration and reentry will remain open until the start of Day 2, and that very well means this field could grow even larger.

Other notable players advancing with healthy stacks were Erik Seidel (493,500), Connor Drinan (403,500), Stephen Chidwick (365,500), Dani Stern (358,500), and Jake Abdalla (357,000).

The cards are scheduled to be in the air at 2:15 p.m. local time on Monday, and the day won't see an end until the final table is reached. Be sure to stay tuned right here to PokerNews for continued coverage of this big buy-in extravaganza, and don't forget to slide over to our reporting from the 2015 Aussie Millions Main Event as well.

From the cutoff seat, Phil Ivey raised to 7,000. Isaac Haxton called from the big blind, and the flop came down {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Haxton checked, and Ivey checked.

The turn was the {J-Diamonds}, and both players checked again. Then, the {2-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Haxton checked, and Ivey bet 10,000. Haxton tank-called, but he couldn't beat the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} that Ivey turned over.

Trevallion Doubles Through Kurganov

Nivel 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Alex Trevallion was all in and at risk with the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for 75,500 against the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} for Igor Kurganov. The {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} flop gave Trevallion the lead, and he was able to hold up from there with the turn and river landing with the {7-Clubs} and {10-Clubs}, respectively. Kurganov was left with just about 177,000 in chips.

Chidwick Busts Kenney

Nivel 8 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Bryn Kenney has been eliminated. According to a colleague from PokerStars, Kenney three-bet jammed with {A-}{10-} from the small blind after Stephen Chidwick opened from the button. Chidwick quickly called with pocket kings and held.
