Normand Wakes Up With Aces, White Exits

Nivel 20 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

After an open by Moe Tokko, Derek Normand three-bet to 195,000 but then Jake White moved all in for close to 500,000.

After some thought, Tokko decided to let it go but Normand quickly called to put White at risk.

Jake White: A10All in
Derek Normand: AA

The flop of QK2 gave White some hope with a gunshot straight draw and even picked up more outs as the turn 6 gave him a flush draw. Alas, the river was the brick Q and White shook hands with Normand before he headed to the exit.

Flashback: Tommy Zhang Wins Champions Club WPO $1,500 Main Event!

Nivel 19 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Thomas Zhang
Thomas Zhang

Last February. the 2024 Champions Club Winter Poker Open $1,500 Main Event saw Tommy Zhang hoist the trophy after defeating Spencer Champlin in a lengthy heads-up battle. Along with the trophy and the title, Zhang took home $209,730, while Champlin was awarded the runner-up prize of $164,430.

“It honestly feels like I’m in a dream,” Zhang said after the grueling two-hour heads-up battle,” It’s kind of crazy, actually, because the only tournament I won was ten years ago in Macao, and I told myself at the end of last year that I really wanted to win another one before I die, and I just feel like I manifested this.” This was prevalent throughout all of the stages of the tournament, as he was heard saying that he could just feel like he couldn’t lose.

The UK-born Shanghai resident did not even plan on playing in the tournament, but the private equity broker just happened to be close in Missouri City, where he was tending to a property. “Yeah, 99% of the time, I just play cash, but I saw there was a $1 mil tournament going on, so I just decided to flick it in.”

Unlucky Seat Sends Out Beard While Tokko Rockets into the Lead

Nivel 19 : Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

"Wait, can I have that chair please? It's my lucky seat," Samuel Beard said to Erin Parisien as the players were being redrawn into the final three tables. Parisien hesitated for a second but obliged and Beard took his lucky seat...

Then on the very first hand, Beard, who had around 1,100,000, got involved in a preflop betting war with fellow big stack Moe Tokko, which ended when Beard moved all in and Tokko called to put him at risk in a monster pot.

Samuel Beard: KK
Moe Tokko: AA

"Wow, what a cooler," Beard sighed and shook his head in disbelief as the board ran out 310564 to give Tokko the win and Beard was sent to the rail.

"Sick seat change," someone said as Beard exited, getting a few chuckles from the table.

Short-stacked John Neal moved all in preflop and was called by DJ Alexander to put him at risk.

John Neal: A10
