A new challenger has appeared on the European poker circuit, and they are kicking off things with a bang. Diamond Poker Series' first-ever festival, the PLO Grand Slam, starts today at Arena Casino in Tirana, Albania. The festival features a week of mid- and high-stakes Omaha action, with buy-ins ranging from €1,100 to €25,500. Over €3,000,000 in prize pools is guaranteed across all tournaments, so huge prizes are in store for those crowned champions.
First up is the €5,200 PLO Opener, which gets cards in the air today at 5 p.m. local time. The tournament has a guarantee of €1,000,000, with two starting days and unlimited reentries providing plenty of opportunities for players to build a stack. PokerNews will also cover the €10,300 PLO Championship later on in the series, which boasts the same seven-figure guarantee. The full schedule can be found here.

Day 1a will play through 11 levels of 45 minutes before the survivors bag and tag for Day 2. A 15-minute break will be had after every three levels, with a 45-minute dinner break after Level 6, around 9:45 p.m.
Unlimited options for reentry are available, and doing so can be done until the start of Day 2, which begins in Level 12: 10,000/15,000 with a 15,000 big blind ante. However, players are incentivized to end Day 1a with a big stack as the top two stacks at the end of the night will receive a ticket to the €10,300 PLO Championship. These tickets are not deducted from the prize pool but are coming straight out of the organizers' pockets, with no strings attached.

Francisco Perez raised to 3,500 in the cutoff. Cesar Garcia called on the button before Ruslan Volkov made it 15,000 to go in the small blind. Perez folded but Garcia put in a call.
On the 2♣9♥10♣ flop, Volkov continued for 25,000. Garcia quickly let go of his cards and Volkov welcomed his new chips.
A few hands later, Volkov, Perez, and Lautaro Guerra were on a river of Q♦9♥J♣A♥6♥. The action checked to Volkov on the button.
He fired a pot-sized bet of 33,000 and received two folds for his efforts, awarding him with yet another pot.
