Romanello the Raconteur
Todd Terry chipped up nicely before the dinner break to push up over the 100k mark. Soon after players returned Terry was raising to 2,000 from the button, then watched Pawel Brzeski reraise to 5,400 from the small blind and Roberto Romanello push all in from the big blind for 25,400.
That's when Terry decided to step aside. Nonetheless, the hand remained interesting for him… and for everyone else nearby.
"What do you put me on?" began Romanello when Brzeski didn't fold immediately. "I have a big hand," he continued. "I'm happy to take the pot."
Brzeski continued to consider the situation as the rest of the table began chuckling at Romanello's banter, offering to share that he, too, "was strong."
"I'll show you a big hand if you fold," Romanello said. Then… "maybe."
The table burst out in laughter. Finally Romanello said he was calling the clock. "But it's a friendly clock," he insisted. "Give him an extra ten seconds!"
But Brzeski called before the floor could begin the countdown, turning over . Romanello then delivered on his earlier promise to show a big hand, showing . "I had ace-jack," Todd offered as they awaited the arrival of the community cards.
The board ran out , and Romanello earned the double up.
"Don't get into a talking war with me!" Romanello said with a grin as he stacked his new chips.
