Mercier Takes One

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier and Mark Darner were heads up on a completed board of {9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. With approximately 18,000 already in the middle, Mercier cut out a river bet of 5,800.

Darner thought for about a minute before moving forward a call. Mercier rolled over {10-Spades}{8-Spades}, Darner mucked, and Mercier took down the pot. He now has about 48,000 to his name.

Oliver Busts Luft with River Queen

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

On the paired {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop, Chris Oliver bet 4,200, and Antonio Luft made the call. After Inacio Izkovitz tank-folded, the dealer added the {J-Diamonds} to the board on fourth street. Oliver checked on Luft's remaining stack — about 20,000 — and then moved all in for maximum pressure. After a little bit of thought, Luft committed his stack and put his tournament life on the line with the {J-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for two pair and a flush draw. Oliver had just the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for two overs to the board and a straight draw.

The river delivered one of the outs Oliver needed with the {Q-Diamonds} hitting the felt. He won the pot to send Luft packing and moved his stack to 88,000 in chips.

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Matt Waxman
Matt Waxman

With 6,000 already in the pot and a board of {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, Scott Baumstein led out for 2,300 after Eyal Aleksnis had checked. Matt Waxman called as did Aleksnis.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and all three players checked to see the dealer put out a fourth heart, the {3-Hearts}, on the river. Aleksnis led out first to act for 3,700 and Baumstein took about thirty seconds before letting his hand go. Waxman glanced away from Alexsnis and tanked for a minute before peering down several times at his chips. He then gathered some of them and placed them into the middle for a raise to 12,500 total.

Alexsnis looked back at his cards once and then handed them to the dealer to give Waxman the pot.

Rampone Doubles Through Chinn

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Nick Rampone was all in with the {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and in a dominating position to double up against Rory Derrick Chinn's {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The flop, turn, and river ran out {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}, and Rampone faded all that he needed to in order to move back to 21,000 in chips. Chinn was clipped down to about 36,000.

Herm Ousts Two

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Mark "dipthrong" Herm just eliminated two shorter-stacked opponents in what looked to be a three-way preflop all in, as we saw the aftermath with Herm's {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} conquering {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} and {k-}{q-} on a board of {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}.

Silver Over Waxman

Nivel 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Matt Waxman raised to 1,700 from middle position and found calls from the player on the button and Max Silver in the big blind. The trio watched on as the flop came down {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Silver checked over to Waxman who continued for 2,100. The button folded but Silver opted to stick around.

The {8-Diamonds} hit the turn and Silver check-called once again, this time to the tune of 7,600. The {Q-Hearts} paired the board on the river and both players checked. Silver showed {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a straight to the queen and it was enough for the win. He took down the pot and increased his stack to about 96,000.
