Last year at in Barcelona, France's Simon Wiciak defeated João Sydenstricker heads-up to win the EPT Main Event for €1,134,375.
Wiciak bested the field of 2,120 runners for the golden trophy, his first major live poker title, and the career-best seven-figure score.
The Frenchman struck a three-handed deal with Sydenstricker and Britain's Carl Shaw that flattened the payouts, and the trio played on for the trophy and an additional €108,975 in prize money.

Jorge Artiga-Pacheco raised to 50,000 under the gun and Boris Kuzmanovic called in the cutoff. Yurii Zabrodotskyi then three-bet to 175,000 in the big blind and Artiga-Pacheco four-bet to 325,000.
Kuzmanovic quickly folded, but Zabrodotskyi moved all in and Artiga-Pacheco, with around 500,000 remaining, snap-folded.

Rania Nasreddine raised to 40,000 in early position with 8♥8♦ and was called by her neighbor Jianwei Lin, who held A♦J♥. She continued for 25,000 on the Q♦3♥5♠ flop and was called by Lin, after which she checked the Q♣ turn.
Lin took the opportunity to bet 75,000, receiving a swift call from Nasreddine. The Q♥ river was checked twice, and Nasreddine's full house took down the pot at showdown.

David Coleman opened to 40,000 from early position and Jonathan Elfa Sanvicens called on the button. Jan Eric Schwippert also called from the small blind, as did Gabriel Cunha from the big blind.
On the K♣2♥10♥ flop, it checked to Coleman who made a bet of 45,000. Sinvicens made it 120,000, then Schwippert shoved for 740,000. Cunha and Coleman folded, then Sinvicens made the call after he used some extra time.

Both had flopped huge, but it was Sanvicens who held the lead with his two pair, though he had a lot of outs to fade as Schwippert had a flush draw plus two-pair outs.
The 9♦ turn added a gutshot to Schippert's plethora of outs, but the 4♠ river wasn't what he was looking for, which meant he was eliminated moments before the dinner break.

Simon Wiciak raised to 40,000 in middle position and was three-bet to 130,000 by Jack Kiriakus in the hijack to his left. Wiciak called and the duo went to a flop.
It came 10♦6♦3♣ and Wiciak checked. Kiriakus bet 225,000 which got a quick fold from Wiciak.
After the hand, Kiriakus offered the PokerStars Ambassador a peek at his cards, which Wiciak accepted. He peeked at them and nodded before pushing them to the dealer.
As per the rules, the dealer shared the cards, which were J♥J♦, with the rest of the table.
