Antonios Poziadis raised the button to 3,500 before Osman Aksu three-bet the small blind to 13,500. Ali Zebarjad called from the big blind but Poziadis folded.
Aksu fired out a bet of 21,500 on the 4♠9♥2♣ flop and Zebarjad called.
When the 4♥ came on the turn Aksu shoved for Zebarjad's remaining 78,000. Zebarjad snap-called.
Ali Zebarjad: 2♦2♠
Osman Aksu: 7♦7♥
Zebarjad had flopped a set of deuces and would double-up if he could fade a seven on the river. The river was the 5♦, which was no help to Aksu, and Zebarjad pulled in the pot.
Mikhail Zavoloka raised from early positon to 3,500 with the button player making the call. Alexey Losev squeezed to 16,500 from the small blind, which only Zavoloka called.
Losev continued with a bet of 14,000 on the K♣6♦8♠ flop. Zavoloka called again.
The turn came the Q♦ and Losev chose to check. Zavoloka bet 20,000, causing Losev to fold his hand.
Axel Hallay raised to 3,000 from under the gun with only Francisco Perez Moreno calling from the hijack.
The two players saw the dealer put out a flop of 10♠7♥6♠. Hallay checked, and Moreno slid out a bet of 3,000. Hallay threw in the call.
Hallay knuckled the table again when the flush completing 3♠ hit the turn. Moreno bet 5,500, which Hallay called.
The 3♦ came on the river and Hallay checked. Moreno pondered briefly before checking behind. It turned out to be a good check back by Moreno as Hallay flipped up A♠K♠ for the ace-high flush.
Joseph Sabe opened from the cutoff to 3,000 and only the player in the big blind called.
The flop came down A♣10♥4♠ and the action checked to Sabe, who fired out a continuation-bet of 5,000. Sabe's opponent called.
The 3♦ fell on the turn and the big blind player chek-called another bet from Sabe, this time for 15,000.
The 5♣ landed on the river and the big blind player checked for the last time. Sabe thought about whether to check a bet for quite some time, but eventually, he chose to check behind. The big blind player showed top pair with A♥8♠ and Sabe mucked his cards.
Life Outside Poker is a podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 25th episode, Connor speaks with embattled poker pro Brad Booth about learning poker from his grandfather, climbing up stakes in Canada, living at the Bellagio and playing in Bobby's Room, bluffing Phil Ivey and getting cheated on Ultimate Bet.
Booth, who the poker community hasn't heard from for several years, opened up about his absence and going missing in 2020, as well as his gambling addiction and various poker debts to players like Doug Polk that he says he plans to make right.
"I got caught up in all of it and all I can try and do is make right now," he told PokerNews of his poker debts.
The remaining players are on their last 15-minute break of the day. After this break and two more levels of play, the surviving players will bag up their chips for the day, and return for Day 2 on Friday, March 21.
Ran Ilani raised under the gun to 3,500 with Georgios Tsouloftas calling from the small blind, and Grzegorz Kozieja defending his big blind.
The action checked to Ilani on the 8♥4♠A♣ flop and he fired out a small bet of 2,100. Tsouloftas and Kozieja called.
All three players checked the 10♦ turn to see the 7♠ land on the river. Tsouloftas fired out a bet of 27,000, which caused Kozieja to ponder for a while before folding. Ilani quickly folded, and Tsouloftas scooped in the pot.
Dmitry Gromov raised to 3,300 from early position before Atanas Malinov shoved his last 30,000 in from the next seat. Mark Helou decided to cold call from the button, and Gromov folded. The cards were turned over with Malinov at risk.
Atanas Malinov: 7♦7♠
Mark Helou: 8♥8♦
Helou had Malinov pipped by one with his two Snowmen. The dealer put out a board of 9♠Q♥J♥10♠5♠, which didn't improve either player and Malinov was sent to rebuy.
