The Irish Poker Festival
The Irish Poker Festival

So far, two of the four opening flights for the €700,000 guaranteed Irish Poker Festival Main Event have wrapped up here at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. The final two flights are scheduled for today, leading into Day 2 on Saturday, November 2.

A total of 59 entries have been registered so far with only 29 securing their spot on Day 2. Last Night, Germany's Niels Buch positioned himself in pole position with a stack of 290,600. However, Day 1c is upon us today at noon local time and is anticipated to be the biggest field yet.

Day 1c of the €3,000 buy-in Main Event, which is the third of four starting flights, is set to begin at noon. Each player will start with 50,000 chips, and the levels will last 60 minutes each. The plan again is to play through 10 levels, with late registration open throughout the entire day, and until the end of level 11, which happens on Day 2. Players also have the option for one reentry per flight if needed.

Today will also mark the first turbo flight, as Day 1d offers an 8:00 p.m. start with shorter 30-minute levels for a faster way to find a bag for Day 2.

Once Day 1d concludes, the players who make it through will join those who advanced from the other four flights and the late arrivals for Day 2, which is scheduled to kick off at noon on Saturday, November 2.

Bobby James raised to 700 from the hijack before Thomas Murphy three-bet to 3,100 from the small blind. James called.

Murphy continued with a bet of 3,500 on the 9J6 flop. James slid in the call.

Murphy didn't slow down upon seeing the 3 come on the turn as he put out a bet of 9,500. James once again made the call.

The 2 dropped on the river and Murphy unloaded the clip, shoving for 27,000. James thought it over for quite some time before eventually flicking in the call.

Murphy flipped over 87 for eight-high. James had that beat with top pair holding J10, and Murphy was the first elimination of the day.

Gerard Harraghy raised the button to 1,300 before Darren Harbinson three-bet to 4,100 out of the big blind. Harraghy thought it over for a while before four-bet shoving for Harbinson's remaining 15,000. Harbinson snap-called.

Harraghy had run into Harbinson's Big Slick, and needed to find some help if he was to bust him. However the board ran out 910Q8Q and Harbinson had doubled with ace-king.

Lazauninkas Busts Two a Flush

Nivel 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
 Olga Iermolcheva
Olga Iermolcheva

Paul Leckey raised to 1,600 from the hijack with Olga Iermolcheva calling on the button and Gytis Lazauninkas defending out of the big blind.

The KJ10 flop was checked around for the 4 to come on the turn. Lazauninkas led out for 4,000 and was met by a shove from Leckey for 25,000. Iermolcheva jammed her stack of 60,000 into the middle over the top and Lazauninkas went into the tank. After thinking for a short time, Lazauninkas made the call to put both players at risk.

Olga Iermolcheva: 44 All in
Paul Leckey: KQ All in
Gytis Lazauninkas: 96

Lazauninkas was ahead with a flopped flush, but had to fade another heart or the board pairing to win the pot.

The blank 2 hit the river and Lazauninkas' flush won the pot and eliminated two players.

With 37,000 in the pot on a flop of J62, Niall Farrell checked from the small blind and faced a bet of 9,500 from Ravi Sheth on the button. Farrell did a bit of inventory before check-shoving for roughly 42,000. Sheth didn't take long to make the call and the cards were revealed.

Niall Farrell: J9 All in
Ravi Sheth: 88

Sheth needed a date with an eight if he was to beat Farrell's top pair and send him to the rail. However, the rest of the board ran out J6 and Farrell doubled up.

The last two flights of the 2024 Irish Poker Festival €3,000 Main Event are now over, here at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. After a total of 59 entrants were combined in Day 1a and 1b, Day 1c broke records with 137 entries.

Players like Niall Farrell qualified for Day 2 through Day 1c after unsuccessful attempts earlier in the week, while recent EPT Cyprus Eureka Main Event champion Leo Worthington-Leese was entering the tournament for the first time today. It seems like one bullet was enough for him, as he ended the day as the chip leader with 288,700. Second in chips is Ravi Sheth (265,600), while Farrell takes third place (258,000).

Day 1c's Action

Despite a slow start, more players quickly joined the field, including Andy Black, Thomas Murphy, Olga Iermolcheva, Mallory Frere, and Michael Sklenicka, who was first in chips during the first break of the day. But by the second break after Level 4, Worthington-Leese had already taken the lead in chip counts. He held the top spot until the end, calling with jacks on an ace-high board to take chips for example.

With him, only three players surpassed 200,000 chips by day's end: Raul Martinez, who hit a full house in one of the last hands, ending with 250,700; Farrell, who doubled up in Level 8, catching Mircea Rus bluffing; and Sheth.

Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Richard Ashby (178,000) also bagged a big stack, as did Alex Todd (171,000), who reentered after being one of the first eliminated players today.

"The Chip Race" podcast co-host Dara O'Kearney managed to bag 123,100 chips, along with Eoghan O'Dea (122,900), Adi Rajkovic (117,100), and Lars Kamphues (102,100). The 2023 EPT Prague champion Padraig O'Neill (26,800) and Nils Pudel (18,300) also qualified for Day 2, though with some of the shortest stacks.

Bobby James, Roope Tarmi, and Kuljinder Sidhu did not qualify for Day 2. Olga Iermolcheva also fell short, being eliminated in a three-way all-in situation. However, all of them still have the opportunity to enter or re-enter the tournament on Day 2 until the end of Level 12.

 Olga Iermolcheva

A few hours after the end of Day 1c, Day 1d Turbo ended with 22 remaining players out of 31 entries. Tomas Flanagan (183,400) had the biggest stack, in flight where Andy Black (78,600), Leo Lombardozzi (48,500) or Maria Lampropulos (44,800) found a bag.

For the 121 remaining players, Day 2 kicks off tomorrow, Saturday, November 2 at 1 p.m. local time. Blinds will start at 800/1,600 with a big blind ante of 1,600.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the latest action from the tables and find out who makes it through to the third and final day.
