Julien Chips Up in Three-Way Action

Nivel 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

A fourth player had folded on the A1044 turn and Lyle Julien then led the 7 river for 3,000. Monica Rosie raised to 6,000 and Wouter Van Der Merwe on the button verified the sizing before he called. Julien also came along and Rosie showed the AJ.

Van Der Merwe had that beat with AQ but Julien won the pot with A10 for aces and tens.

Big Bet Poker Favours Sun

Nivel 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Huawei Sun
Huawei Sun

Huawei Sun claimed a large pot with sheer aggression when he bet the river of a K4233 board for 17,000 into more than 20,000. His opponent tanked and nearly used a time bank extension before sending the cards to the muck. That pot boosted Sun to become one of the early chip leaders.

Wheatley Chips Up Early; Antezana Missclicks Back

Nivel 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

On the river of a 953K4 board, Edgar Antezana got out of the way with QQ when facing a large raise and a reraise by Russel Wheatley. The player in between them mucked the 64 and Antezana was somewhat perplexed. "Why do you bet so big?" he asked and his opponent replied "I had a busted straight draw".

Shortly after, there was an open raise to 600 and Antezana used two chips, however, it was the wrong ones as he made it 5,500 to go with an obvious miss-click. His opponent called and check-folded the 988 flop when Antezana bet 10,000.

Nivel 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Joey Weissman
Joey Weissman

Joey Weissman was the chip leader for the final table of the Super High Roller two days ago and finished in third place. He will have the opportunity to do even better this time in the ZAR 50,000 High Roller ($2,745) as he leads the way by some margin for the nine-handed final table.

Weissman enters the final table with a staggering 124 big blinds, well ahead of Mario Fata with 79 big blinds. Gilbert Tin Fook is the only other non South African player in the field and brings up the bottom of the leaderboard with a mountain to climb.

Jonathan Woolley was eliminated on the bubble to be the last contender without anything to show for last night. The action kicked off at 11 a.m. local time already and is currently live-streamed on the Monster Jam Poker Tour YouTube channel on a security delay of 30 minutes with cards-up coverage and commentary.

Shuffle Up and Deal for Day 1b

Nivel 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

There are some 15 players seated in the opening stages and that number will certainly grow in the hours to come. Yesterday's opening flight had included all satellite winners leading up to the series, hence why it was a much bigger field from the get-go.
