On the tail end of a heads-up pot to the 10♣5♦3♣4♠5♣ river, Benjamin "Guppie" Lingenfelder bet 6,500. He was called by Dave Nundloll, who made the call. Lingenfelder tabled his 6♥4♥ fives and fours with a busted straight draw and Nundloll won the pot with what appeared to be black eights.
Gilbert Tin Fook opened to 1,300 and Sugen Singh three-bet to 4,600 in the next seat. Gavin Sardini called and it folded back to Tin Fook, who simply declared all-in.
Singh folded and Sardini then sighed "so you don't want any action, eh? You have what, like ace nine?" he inquired. Sardini used one time bank extension and folded, Tin Fook flashed the A♦K♣.
"I was ahead, I had pocket nines," Singh chimed in.
Gavin Sardini has re-entered and was placed right between Sugen Singh and Muaaz Gani over on table 25. There is one seat open on table 24 and it formerly belonged to Edgar Antezana, who was eliminated on the first bullet but will certainly be back later for more action on Day 1b.
The field is up to 66 entries now while a Freeroll satellite is also underway in the secondary tournament area.
Back in August, the 2024 SunBet Poker Tour Time Square Main Event crowned a champion as SPT regular Harold Brooks posed for the winner shots inside of the Time Square Casino in Pretoria after a short-lived day. Brooks cut a deal with four other dealers to claim the largest piece of the ZAR4,926,600 ($266,036) prize pool.
Held in cooperation between South African gaming and entertainment giant Sun International and the Monster Jam Poker Tour (MJPT), the second SPT Time Square Main Event in the current year attracted a field of 391 entries across four starting days. The top 49 finishers earned a cash prize for their efforts, and the final five contenders agreed to deal numbers after a short final day.
For his efforts, Brooks took home ZAR714,287 ($37,857) and Patrice Ah-Nien from Mauritius officially finished in second place, followed by live satellite qualifier Gerrit van der Spoel.
In three-way action, Alvin Pillay bet 600 and was called only by Leonard Dormehl with the flop showing K♣K♦10♦. They checked the A♦ turn and Pillay led the J♥ river for 3,000 in the small blind.
"Raise," Dormehl announced and tossed out 11,000. Pillay reluctantly called with the words "full house is good" and that's exactly what Dormehl showed, as he had flopped it with the K♠10♠.
In a three-way three-bet pot with very jovial table chat between Joe Rahme and Edgar Antezana, the flop showed J♠7♥2♦. Russel Wheatley checked and Rahme bet 4,000, Antezana called. The 9♠ turn was checked and so was the ]6h] river. Rahme showed Q♣10♦ but Antezana won the pot with the K♥Q♥.
On the tail end of a heads-up pot to the K♠7♣7♥9♦10♦ river, Adam Gamsy bet 7,500 out of the big blind. Jamie McCarthy briefly tanked but then called and Gamsy announced a nine before showing the Q♦9♠. McCarthy had that beat with the K♣J♥ for kings and sevens to pull ahead of Gamsy.
