Moore Back From the Brink of Elimination

Nivel 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Craig Hartland
Craig Hartland

Craig Hartland jammed for 69,000 preflop and Bradley Moore moved all-in for slightly more, the rest of the table folded.

Craig Hartland: 99 All in
Bradley Moore: A10

The Q633K board kept the pocket pair ahead and Moore was left with a mere 24,000. He got those into the middle soon after, picking up calls from Braam Van Huyssteen in the hijack and Hartland in the small blind. Both active players checked down the Q5274 board.

Hartland showed his 108 for a missed flush and Van Huyssteen had the AK for ace-high. Moore was ahead all the way with 44 and rivered a set for the triple up.

Hartland gets a Flop Shove Through

Nivel 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Four ways to the Q103 flop, Craig Hartland pushed all-in for the last 34,000. Stefan Van Huyssteen reluctantly folded, and none of the other two players showed their cards either. Hartland flashed the 8 before raking in the pot.

Stefan Van Huyssteen raised to 7,000 and then "gambled" as per his table chat when calling the three-bet shove by Lauren Piha for 88,000.

Lauren Piha: AQ All in
Stefan Van Huyssteen: A10

The 1098AK board improved Van Huyssteen to a pair of tens and Piha departed shy of making Day 2.

Fourie Doubles Through Jeebaun

Nivel 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Rudolf Fourie
Rudolf Fourie

With 26,000 in the middle to the Q87 flop, Rudolf Fourie was all-in for 111,500 and looked up by table neighbour Yogesh Jeebaun who flipped over the 87 for the bottom two pair.

The Q turn improved Fourie to trips and he started a little happy dance even before the 5 river completed the board.

Two Seat Open at the Same Time

Eben Lottering
Eben Lottering

A short-stacked Roy Bitton jammed with J7 into the KJ of Rudolf Fourie and found no help on the A5223 runout.

Moments later, Eben Lottering was at risk with 33 for around 55,000 and looked up by Braam Van Huyssteen with the dominating QQ.

The superior pair reigned supreme throughout the 522A5 board to reduce the field to the last 16 contenders.

Pienaar Adds To his Growing Tower

Nivel 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The multi-way flop of 964 was checked before Yogesh Jeebaun bet the 6 turn for 11,000 in the small blind. It folded to Keenan Pienaar and he raised to 33,000 for Jeebaun to call.

Jeebaun then check-folded the A river to a bet of around 50,000.

Soon after, Gilbert Tin Fook raise-folded to the shove of Rudolf Fourie.

"Just ask him what my hand is," Fourie told Tin Fook after the latter had exposed the Q10. He referred to Harold Brooks, who instantly said "ace king," which was exactly what Fourie showed by revealing AK.

Shortly after, Pienaar chipped up even further when he got some value out of Divan Vyn Wyk on a board of K108JA. His Q9 was the nuts with a queen-high straight flush and Van Wyk mucked the K10.

Kinesh Pather Bubbles the ZAR 50,000 High Roller

Nivel 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kinesh Pather
Kinesh Pather

While the last two tables of the Main Event Day 1a are ongoing, six players were on their feet on the live-streamed final table in the ZAR 50,000 High Roller. Only five of them were paid and Kinesh Pather was all-in against Ronit Chamani with both players holding nearly the same stack.

Pather's JJ were up against AK and Chamani flopped best on A64. The 9 turn and 8 river changed nothing and the bubble burst. Payouts and chip counts of the final five contenders will be provided later on in the Day 1a recap. Max Deveson will be the shortest stack coming back but has more than 50 big blinds at his disposal.

Jeebaun Chips Up Against Van Wyk

Nivel 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Three ways to the A72 flop, Yogesh Jeebaun raised to 12,000 and was called by Gilbert Tin Fook in the small blind and Divan Van Wyk from the under-the-gun position. The A turn was checked to Jeebaun, who bet 30,000 and earned a call by Van Wyk only. Both then checked the 6 on the river and Van Wyk revealed his 99 first, which was beaten by the AJ of Jeebaun.
