Last year in Bratislava, Martin Bartos bested a huge field of 1,577 entrants to take home the trophy, title and €100,000.
Over a total of five starting flights, only 271 players were lucky enough to return to the tournament floor for Day 2. After an additional 18 levels of play, just 13 remained to battle it out on the felt on the final day. Despite such fierce competition, it was Bartos who took pole position as the dust settled.
Having drawn one of the toughest final tables in WPO Main Event History, Bartos was quick to commend some of the seasoned opponents he faced: “Because the final table, it was definitely tough. Very good players, very good players. I think for a €500 tournament, [there were] very, very good players. In Slovakia, the best €500 Final Table for sure. Too many celebrities! It was perfect”.

"I have an amazing run. Earlier, I had three times ace-king in a row", Hayg Badem said while calling from the cutoff after Jimmy Fernandes in the hijack opened to 1,100.
Both players checked the Q♣7♠8♥ flop, but on the 9♣ turn, Fernandes bet 2,400. Badem raised to 6,000 and Fernandes called to find the A♦ river where he checked.
Badem asked for 4,500 and Fernandes snap-called. But he couldn't do much against Badem's straight with J♣10♣. "I had a blocker, that's why I called" Fernandes said while revealing the 10♠.

Nicolo Sapiolo, in the small blind, bet out 15,000. Thibaut Thevenet, in the cutoff, went deep into the tank.
Thevenet thought for some minutes before deciding to call. Sapiolo rolled over 4♠4♦ for a turned set of fours; more than good enough to secure this pot.

Timur Margolin, in the big blind, checked the action to Remi Poilblanc, on the button. Poilblanc bet out 15,000 and Margolin went deep into the tank.
Margolin, pained by his decision, thought aloud for some time, finally speculating "Ace-queen?" as he flicked in the call. Poilblanc rolled over A♠Q♦ for an ace-kicker to go along with the quads on board. Margolin mucked his cards.
