On a flop of J♦J♠7♣, Dylan Patanchon on the button bet 2,500, but Ion Juravliov in the big blind check-raised. Patanchon three-bet to 20,000 and Juravliov eventually made the call.
Juravliov bet 10,000 on the 7♥ turn, but Patanchon didn't back down and called. Then the 5♣ river, Juravliov asked for 20,000.
Patanchon called again, but he couldn't do much against Juravliov's full house with Q♦J♣.
After he finished third last year, Victor Fryda arrived in the Main Event. At his table, Boris Progner opened to 2,500 from the cutoff. He was called by the button, but Fryda in the big blind squeezed to 50,000.
Progner went into the tank and jammed for a total of 44,000. He made the button fold.
Boris Progner: K♠Q♠
Victor Fryda: 2♣2♦
Fryda won the flip on 5♥A♦7♥6♣8♠ and sent Progner to the rail.
Benjamin Hammann raised to 2,500 from the cutoff and Sebastien Rey called on the button.
Hammann slowed down on the K♠5♦3♠ flop. Rey took the lead for 2,500 and Hammann check-raised to 6,500. Rey called.
The 10♣ turn checked through tp the K♦ on the river. Hammann checked again and Rey took the lead for 6,000. Hammann tanked for some time before finally choosing to call. Rey rolled over K♣Q♥ for rivered trips, winning him this pot.
Last year in Bratislava, Martin Bartos bested a huge field of 1,577 entrants to take home the trophy, title and €100,000.
Over a total of five starting flights, only 271 players were lucky enough to return to the tournament floor for Day 2. After an additional 18 levels of play, just 13 remained to battle it out on the felt on the final day. Despite such fierce competition, it was Bartos who took pole position as the dust settled.
Having drawn one of the toughest final tables in WPO Main Event History, Bartos was quick to commend some of the seasoned opponents he faced: “Because the final table, it was definitely tough. Very good players, very good players. I think for a €500 tournament, [there were] very, very good players. In Slovakia, the best €500 Final Table for sure. Too many celebrities! It was perfect”.
