Today makes way for the final flights of the Winamax Poker Open's €500 Main Event, here in Bratislava. The penultimate of four starting flights is expected to attract hundreds of hopefuls to the Banco Casino for its noon start time, all fighting for their place in Winamax history.

As Day 1b drew to a close last night, a total of 509 entries amassed by the conclusion of late registration, up 26 entries from the same flight the previous year, of which 83 players bagged and tagged for the Day 2 restart on Saturday. The number of entrants now stands at 721 with 118 still in contention for the trophy.

It was Ludovic Palain who bagged the overall chip lead, taking through a massive 1,369,000. Palain was one of three players to have now crossed the one-million chip mark with Robin Gerard (1,133,000) and Nicolas Malbrec (1,080,000) following closely behind.

The pot stood at 5,800 with two players looking at a board of 9232.

Clement Meunier, in the small blind, bet out for 3,500. Aneta Kalikova, on the button, made the call.

The 10 river saw Meunier size up the river with a bet of 16,000. Kalikova went deep into the tank, eventually making what seemed to be a tough call. Meunier tabled K6 for king high, while Kalikova won this pot after showing QQ for an over pair to the board.

Clément Meunier defended from the big blind after Cyril Gouttenoire in the cutoff opened to 900.

Gouttenoire bet 700 on the K62 flop, then fired a second barrel of 2,700 on the 3 turn. Meunier check-called both times.

The 6 river landed on felt and Meunier led out for 9,000. Gouttenoire went into the tank, but eventually folded. "A king?," Meunier asked. "Better, " answered Gouttenoire.

Badem's Run Continues

Nivel 4 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante
Hayg Badem

"I have an amazing run. Earlier, I had three times ace-king in a row", Hayg Badem said while calling from the cutoff after Jimmy Fernandes in the hijack opened to 1,100.

Both players checked the Q78 flop, but on the 9 turn, Fernandes bet 2,400. Badem raised to 6,000 and Fernandes called to find the A river where he checked.

Badem asked for 4,500 and Fernandes snap-called. But he couldn't do much against Badem's straight with J10. "I had a blocker, that's why I called" Fernandes said while revealing the 10.

Jean-Pierre Vieilletoile
Jean-Pierre Vieilletoile

Jean-Pierre Vieilletoile raised to 3,600 from the hijack, Gergely Bartos three-bet to 11,000 from the small blind and Vieilletoile made the call.

The 108Q flop checked through to the J on the turn. Bartos checked and Vieilletoile took the lead for 10,000. Bartos check-raised to 30,000 and Vieilletoile called.

The 8 river checked to a showdown. Bartos rolled over AQ for a pair of queens, while Vieilletoile stole this pot with A5 for a baby flush. Vieilletoile seemed visibly surprised he'd won the pot.
