"Camera Time"

Nivel 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Joao Simao opened the action with a raise to 3,500 from the hijack before Daniel Negreanu three-bet to 10,500 in the cutoff. Then David Eldridge four-bet to 35,500. It folded back to Simao, who got out of the way, and Negreanu said, "Camera time," as he took out his tripod and five-bet to put Eldridge all in for 40,800, which he quickly called.

David Eldridge: KKJ8 All in
Daniel Negreanu: AA66

Negreanu was ahead with his aces, but the 1039 flop gave Eldridge a flush draw and open-ended straight draw. However, after the 2 on the turn and 9 on the river, the board bricked out for Eldridge and the aces of Negreanu were still best, eliminating Eldridge.

Action was three-way to the 8JJ flop, where Santhosh Suvarna led out from the big blind for 4,000. Artur Martirosian called in the cutoff and Joni Jouhkimainen tossed in a call on the button.

Suvarna checked the K turn, with Martirosian checking behind. Jouhkimainen fired a bet of 10,000 with only Suvarna continuing.

Both players then checked down the 10 river, with Suvarna showing AAQ10 for a Broadway straight to take down the pot.

Isaac Haxton

Veselin Karakitukov raised from under the gun to 2,500, and on his direct left Isaac Haxton three-bet to 8,700. It folded back to Karakitukov who made the call.

The flop came QK2 and Karakitukov checked to Haxton who moved all in for 8,400, which Karakitukov called.

Isaac Haxton: AA76 All in
Veselin Karakitukov: 101099

Haxton was in front with his aces, but the 9 on the turn gave Karakitukov a set. The river was the K to give Karakitukov the pot with his full house, eliminating Haxton.

Stroke Gets Paid on the River

Nivel 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Action went three-ways to a flop of 5A2 in a hand between George-Bogdan Ana on the button, Eelis Parssinen in the small blind, and Shawn Stroke in the big blind.

Parssinen checked, Stroke bet 1,000, Ana called, and Parssinen bumped it up to 6,200. Stroke called and Ana got out of the way.

The 2 turn went check-check, bringing the K river. Parssinen led out with a bet of 4,000 and Stroke raised to 16,000. Parssinen thought for a brief moment before putting in the call.

Stroke tabled AQ72 for a full house, deuces full of aces, to scoop the pot.

Music Icon & Bracelet Winner Steve Albini's Death Puts Fabled 20-Year Poker Home Game on Pause

Nivel 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Steve Albini
Steve Albini

The death of musician, recording engineer and poker player Steve Albini hit the music world with a force like that of the incendiary device aimed at Earth pictured on Big Black's 1986 debut album Atomizer. It may have hit one group of Chicago poker players the hardest.

Albini, a two-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner who recorded landmark works by bands like Nirvana and Pixies and who The New York Times described as "one of the most admired, and most divisive, figures in rock," was a key figure in a friend group that bonded, joked and supported one another over the poker table. For 20 years, they played in a weekly low-stakes Chicago home game often held in Electrical Audio that included bracelet winners like Jason Gola, Eric Rodawig and Brian Hastings. Now, the game is on hiatus after Albini's death in May as the group of poker pros, musicians and audio engineers adapts to a world without its figurehead.

PokerNews spoke with two of Albini's closest friends who were regulars in the game, Brandon Shack-Harris and Andrew Kosinski.
