The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise, which is taking place on Paradise Island in The Bahamas, got off to a big start with the $500,000 buy-in Triton Million, which marked the WSOP's first partnership with Triton Poker.
It was a unique tournament that paired an invitee with a poker pro – each putting up a $500,000 buy-in – and then competing in respective fields on Day 1 before combining on Day 2. The tournament, which was being live reported by PokerNews, featured 74 players (37 pairs) and much to our surprise saw two players get their chips all in on the very first hand of the tournament.
It was a big hand, but just one captured by the PokerNews Live Reporting Team. Here is a look at five other either big or game-changing hands from the Triton Million.
The remaining 34 players have been sent on a 60-minute dinner break and will return at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time.
Blinds will resume at 8,000/16,000 with a 16,000 big blind ante.
Chip leader Biao Ding opened to 42,000 and Danny Tang made the call on his left. Eric Wasserson then moved all in for 138,000, with Ding calling and Tang getting out of the way.
Eric Wasserson: A♦Q♣10♣10♦
Biao Ding: J♣5♦4♦2♣
Ding could not connect on the 3♣K♦K♥8♣A♠ board, while Wasserson held with two pair to double up before the dinner break.

Heads-up action saw a substantial pot already building when Michael Duek bet 100,000 from early position on the 9♣A♥Q♠J♣ turn.
Namhyung Kim check-called from the big blind to the 10♦ river. Kim took a moment before moving all in for 115,000.
Duek then took some time of his own before sticking in the call. Kim showed A♣K♠Q♣4♠ for Broadway, earning the double up through Duek.

Josh Arieh was first to act and raised to 30,000, which was called by Scott Seiver on the button.
The flop came 5♥7♦J♥ and Arieh check-called a bet of 45,000 from Seiver.
Both players checked the 2♥ turn and 5♦ river.
Seiver said, "That was the worst runout."
Arieh announced, "Sixes," and tabled 6♠6♦4♦3♥.
Seiver joked, "I guess they make worse runouts," and turned over J♠9♠7♥6♣ to take the pot with his two pair, jacks and sevens.

Daniel Negreanu limped in middle position and action folded around to Roman Hrabec on the button, who potted it to 54,000.
Negreanu thought for a brief moment before tossing his cards into the muck.

Action was heads up with 85,000 in the pot and the flop showing K♦3♦A♥.
Artur Martirosian led out with a pot-sized bet from the big blind, putting the action on Gergo Nagy on the button.
Nagy used two time banks before reluctantly sliding his cards to the dealer. Martirosian flipped over A♣Q♦J♣10♣ for top pair and a Broadway draw, and Nagy pumped his fist as he counted the rest of his stack.
