Triton Million Hands of the Week: Ivey Loses $1,000,000; Brutal Bubble Bustout for Ryan Feldman

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise, which is taking place on Paradise Island in The Bahamas, got off to a big start with the $500,000 buy-in Triton Million, which marked the WSOP's first partnership with Triton Poker.

It was a unique tournament that paired an invitee with a poker pro – each putting up a $500,000 buy-in – and then competing in respective fields on Day 1 before combining on Day 2. The tournament, which was being live reported by PokerNews, featured 74 players (37 pairs) and much to our surprise saw two players get their chips all in on the very first hand of the tournament.

It was a big hand, but just one captured by the PokerNews Live Reporting Team. Here is a look at five other either big or game-changing hands from the Triton Million.

Tang Finds an Ace on the River

Danny Tang raised to 50,000 in the cutoff, Christoph Vogelsang called in the small blind, and Santhosh Suvarna three-bet to 200,000 in the big blind. Tang then four-bet shoved for 705,000, putting himself at risk, resulting in a fold from Vogelsang and a call from Suvarna.

"Nice hand Santhosh," said Tang as the cards were revealed.

The flop came Q♥9♠3♥ with Suvarna still in the lead. The 6♣ rolled off on the turn and Tang was all but out.

That was until the river landed the A♣, earning Tang the double up.

Pardo Doubles With Queens

Juan Pardo raised from under the gun to 50,000, and when it folded to Thomas Muehloecker in the hijack, he three-bet to 125,000. It folded back to Pardo who four-bet all in for his stack of 300,000, which Muehloecker called to put Pardo at risk.

Pardo had the best of it with his pocket queens, and once the board ran out 7♦5♦10♥4♣9♥ the pocket queens of Pardo were still best, giving him the double up.

Kenney Hits the Rail

Bryn Kenney moved all in from middle position for 300,000, putting himself at risk and Adrian Mateos reshoved in the small blind to isolate.

Mateos pulled ahead even further on the 8♦8♠A♠ flop, pairing his ace. Kenney picked up a gutshot on the 7♣ turn, but couldn't get there on the 4♠ river.

Mario Mosbock was also seen exiting the tournament area from a nearby table.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is wrapping up 2024 down in The Bahamas with WSOP Paradise, but they’re already looking ahead to the New Year by announcing the dates for the 56th Annual WSOP in Las Vegas.

For the fourth consecutive year, the summer WSOP will take place at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas. The series will run from May 27 to July 16, 2025, while the $10,000 Main Event will start on July 2 with the final table taking place between July 15-16 inside the Horseshoe Events Center.

“Each year allows us to refine further and improve the WSOP offering, and 2025 will be no exception,” WSOP CEO Ty Stewart said in a press release. “Expect the biggest poker events on the planet, the best action, and the most intense competition as we once again welcome tens of thousands of poker enthusiasts eager to experience the magic of the WSOP.”

Life Outside Poker: Boston Rob Shares Story of Costa Rica Poker Raid w/ Daniel Negreanu & Cheryl Hines

Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the 21st episode, Connor speaks with Survivor legend Boston Rob, aka Rob Mariano, about growing up near Fenway Park, learning poker at the age of 6, studying psychology at Boston University, applying for Survivor and winning Season 22, his recent appearance on Deal or No Deal Island and filming an upcoming season of The Traitors.

Boston Rob also revealed a story about Costa Rican authorities raiding a mansion known to host high-stakes poker games during a 2006 filming that included Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh, David Williams, Michael Mizrachi and actress Cheryl Hines.

"(Gambling mogul) Calvin (Ayre) had a big party at the house, and they came in guns drawn," he said. "And we were fine, but we all had to stay at the party until they checked our passports and everything. I think it was a little bit of a shakedown. But we had a good weekend."
