Daniel Dvoress Puts on a Show in Day 1 of the $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller
Action has wrapped up in Day 1 of the the $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller here at the 2024 World Series of Poker Paradise hosted by Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas. The event attracted 101 entries, with 29 players returning for Day 2 action on Wednesday.
Daniel Dvoress (3,835,000) emerged as the overwhelming chip leader of Day 1, stringing together an impressive run of back-to-back eliminations in the last couple of levels of the evening. His first victim was Chris Hunichen, who exited with queen-jack to Dvoress' ace-king. Next up was Biao Ding who ran head first into pocket aces. Mike Watson lost a flip with ace-king and was sent to the rail shortly after.
Dvoress showed no signs whatsoever of slowing down, going on to score two more knockouts before the night's end. John Pannucci was the next casualty when his second-nut flush ran into the nut flush. Brian Kim was brave enough to test the waters and try to stop Dvoress' heater with pocket jacks, but was denied.
Finishing the day second in chips is Fedor Holz with 2,755,000 and not far behind him is Leonard Maue with 2,505,000 to round out the podium.

Notable Eliminations
Those who fired multiple bullets but couldn't find a bag for Day 2 include Nick Schulman, Artur Martirosian, Jean-Noel Thorel, David Yan, Alex Kulev, Stephen Chidwick, David Peters, Chris Brewer, and Jason Koon.
While most of these players already used both of their reentries, some are still eligible to join again during the first level of play on Day 2.
Day 2 will begin December 18 at 2:00 p.m. local time, with blinds starting at 10,000/20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante. Late registration will close at the end of Level 13, so we may see some reentries and new faces at the start of play.
Levels will be 40 minutes in length, with a 15-minute break after every three levels. A one-hour dinner break will occur at the completion of level 18 at approximately 6:15 p.m. local time. As this is a two-day event, the expectation is to play down to a winner on Day 2.
