Narcis-Gabriel Nedelcu opened under the gun before David Chen three-bet to 32,000 on the button, leaving just 1,000 behind. Nedelcu put in another raise and Chen called.
While waiting for the floor to give permission to run the hands, a conversation of insurance came up. Instead, Jovan Kenjic offered to buy 100 percent of Chen's action for $9,000. Chen thought about it for a moment and agreed to the deal as they shook hands.
"Wait, are you just not going to play well now?" Kenjic started to rethink his offer.
"No, I'll still play the same," Chen replied with confidence. "But, can I trust you not to freeroll me?"
"Look me up, I am Jovan Kenjic."
Eventually, they were allowed reveal their cards.
David Chen: A♣K♣
Narcis-Gabriel Nedelcu: A♥7♣
The J♦10♥4♦10♦10♠ runout meant Chen doubled to remain in the tournament, while the bubble burst at another table on the other side of the room.
Andrei Piatrushchanka opened 10,000 in the hijack and Lucas Foster defended the big blind.
Both players checked to the 9♣7♠6♦J♦ turn, and Foster checked once more. Piatrushchanka fired 15,000 across the line and Foster responded with a check-raise to 40,000. That was enough to earn the pot as Piatrushchanka mucked his hand.
Lewis Spencer opened 10,000 under the gun and Leonard Herrmann defended the big blind.
The dealer fanned a flop of 4♦3♥2♥, and both players checked to see the Q♦ turn. Herrmann led for 22,000 and Lewis called.
The 8♣ completed the board on the river and Herrmann fired 56,000. Lewis thought about it for a few moments while glancing at the clock. He then tossed in the call to see the Q♥10♥ of Hermann and tabled A♠Q♠ to win with a pair of queens, ace-kicker.
Event #14: Super Saver $1M Invitational, which was played in a freezeout format, attracted 487 players and will award a $980,000 prize pool to the top 85 finishers. The winner will take home a $200,000 top prize as well as a shiny WSOP gold bracelet.
Vladimir Minko jammed from early position for about 40,000 and Belarmino De Souza moved all in from the cutoff as well, forcing the players behind him to fold, and both hands were tabled.
Vladimir Minko: A♥10♥
Belarmino De Souza: A♦Q♣
Minko was dominated and the A♣J♣6♦K♠K♦ runout was no help as he stood up from his seat.
