The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise, which is taking place on Paradise Island in The Bahamas, got off to a big start with the $500,000 buy-in Triton Million, which marked the WSOP's first partnership with Triton Poker.
It was a unique tournament that paired an invitee with a poker pro – each putting up a $500,000 buy-in – and then competing in respective fields on Day 1 before combining on Day 2. The tournament, which was being live reported by PokerNews, featured 74 players (37 pairs) and much to our surprise saw two players get their chips all in on the very first hand of the tournament.
It was a big hand, but just one captured by the PokerNews Live Reporting Team. Here is a look at five other either big or game-changing hands from the Triton Million.
Players have been sent on a 60-minute dinner break with the clock showing 140 runners so far. Action will resume at approximately 7:42 p.m. local time.
Here are some highlights from the last two levels of play:
Igor Pihela opened to 22,000 from middle position before Rokas Asipauskas three-bet to 55,000 from the hijack. On the button, Pascal Lefrancois cold four-bet to 125,000. Pihela folded before Asipauskas jammed for 239,000 and Lefrancois called.
Rokas Asipauskas: A♥K♥
Pascal Lefrancois: J♦J♣
It was a classic coin flip until the A♠7♥5♣ flop gave Asipauskas the lead, and it stayed that way on the 8♠5♥ runout as he secured the full double right before dinner

Roeland Peeks opened 20,000 in the cutoff and Giuseppe Iadisernia defended the big blind.
The dealer fanned a flop of K♦4♥3♥, and Iadisernia check-called a bet of 16,000.
The 2♠ turn was checked through to see the K♥ pair the board on the river. Iadisernia led for 15,000, and Peeks responded with a raise to 85,000. Iadisernia thought about it for about 10 seconds before sliding his cards face down toward the dealer.

After an all-in confrontation between Felipe Ketzer and Carlos Ribeiro that ended in a chop as both players held ace-king, Taylor von Kriegenbergh opened to 25,000 in the hijack and Ribeiro called on the button as Ketzer came along from the big blind.
Ketzer and Von Kriegenbergh both checked on the flop of Q♠10♦2♥ and Ribeiro bet 26,000. Both opponents folded.

Punnat Punsri raised to 20,000 under the gun, Santiago Nadal three-bet to 54,000 in the cutoff, and Punsri called.
The flop came A♦10♠3♠ and Nadal bet 35,000. Punsri then raised to 92,000 and Nadal called.
Punsri led out for another 103,000 on the K♥ turn and Nadal called once more. The river was the 8♣ and Punsri bet 391,000, leaving himself just 1,000 behind.
Nadal then moved all in and Punsri called off his last chip. Nadal showed A♣K♦ for two pair and Punsri tossed J♠8♠ for a pair of eights and missed flush draw into the muck as Nadal took down the massive pot.
