The 2025 WSOPC Main Event Kicks Off Today in Marrakech

Max Deveson

What better way to start the year than by winning WSOP Circuit rings under the sun of Marrakech? That’s exactly what the Casino de Marrakech inside the beautiful Es Saadi Resort is offering, hosting the 2025 edition of the World Series of Poker Circuit Marrakech.

From the 10th until the 19th of January, 12 WSOPC rings are up for grabs. Players have already won some over the past few days, such as Andrew Hawkins, who took down the 4,500 MAD Opener for 484,000 MAD.

While side events will crown new champions, all eyes are now on the 15,000 MAD (€1,350) WSOPC Main Event, which starts today with Day 1a. Last year, Max Deveson won the Main Event ring out of a field of 1,163 entrants for 2,150,000 MAD (approximately €200,000). He is back in Marrakech this year, hoping for a back-to-back win.

Registration will remain open until the end of Level 9, and only one reentry per flight is allowed. There will be two more flights tomorrow, including Day 1c Turbo, which features 15-minute levels.

Yussuke Bluffs to Survive

Nivel 1 : Blinds 100/100, 0 ante

Two hands after arriving at the table, Loic Menneteau found pocket nines, flopped a full house, and doubled up through “Yussuke”.

With only 1,400 chips left, Yussuke moved all-in a few times over the next hands to win some blinds. Then, on the button, he opened to 200 and was called by Cameron Sinclair in the small blind.

They checked the 839 flop, leading to the A turn, where Yussuke bet 300. Sinclair quickly check-called and then checked the 10 river.

Yussuke bet 1,000, nearly his entire stack, and managed to make Sinclair fold a nine. “I won?” Sinclair asked while folding. “Yes,” Yussuke confirmed, revealing Q7.

Patrice Chamarre opened to 600 from under the gun and faced Elie, who called from the small blind.

Chamarre continued for 700 on the 759 flop. Elie check-called, then both players quickly checked the K turn.
