Gromov Approaching 100K

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, Dmitry Gromov checked raised his sole opponent in middle position, which received a call. Gromov then led out on the {6-Diamonds}, his opponent called, and the {9-Clubs} hit the river. Both players checked and Gromov revealed {6-Spades}{8-Hearts} for nines and sixes, which was good enough to win.

Getting Mizzi With It

We’re unsure as to how Sorel Mizzi had built up such a large stack but we found him with quite a few chips and in a hand on a {Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts} board. He bet from the big blind and a player in middle position moved all in for 800 more. Mizzi made the call with {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a flush draw and would need any heart on the river to eliminate his opponent who held {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The river was a {7-Spades} though to double up his opponent. However Mizzi was still sitting with one of the bigger stacks in the room.

Jeff Shulman is Still Here and Winning the Occasional Pot

Jeff Shulman
Jeff Shulman

We don't know what happened before the flop, but we caught up with Table 351 to find a chip hungry Jeff Shulman being the aggressor on a flop of {10-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. Shulman bet out and was called by two others at the table.

The {3-Hearts} made an appearance on the turn and with that came another bet from Shulman. This time however he only received one call. A river {5-Hearts} equaled another bet from Shulman, and it was enough to get his opponent to fold.

The chip average at this point is 30,636 and Shulman is hovering around 30,000 in chips.

Solomon Takes a Hit

Jarred Solomon, who finished runner up in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em Event earlier this WSOP, recently raised from the small blind only to face a reraise from the player in the big. Solomon made the call and then check-raised the {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, which inspired the big blind to three-bet. Solomon called and then check-called the {2-Spades} turn.

Both players proceeded to check the {A-Spades} river and the big blind rolled over {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. It was good as Solomon mucked his hand.

Will The Mavs Fare Better Than Serock?

Joseph Serock who was sporting a Dirk Nowitzki jersey moved all in from under the gun. Robert Ferdinand was next to act and raised which got everyone else to fold. Serock showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} while Ferdinand held {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. The board ran out {A-}{Q-}{8-}{6-}{2-} which improved Ferdinand to two pair and provided no help to Serock who was eliminated.

With the NBA finals game starting shortly on a TV nearby, we’re sure that Jason Mercier who’s wearing a Miami Heat shirt is hoping that the Dallas Mavericks suffer the same loss tonight as Serock just did in the tournament.

Two Giant Stacks, One Small Pot

Alexander Kravchenko
Alexander Kravchenko

After raises preflop and on the flop from Tobin Banks and Alexander Kravchenko, both players decided to check down the rest of the way on a board of {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}.

Kravchenko showed {10-} {9-} which was enough to take the pot from Banks, who mucked his whole cards.
