Chalk One up for the Magician

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

A player open-raised to 75 from the button and Antonio Esfandiari re-raised out of the small blind for 200. The big folded and his opponent called.

The man known as The Magician immediately fired a 325 c-bet on the {2-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{7-Hearts} board and his opponent called.

The turn brought the {8-Spades} and Esfandiari counted out a bet of 800 and chucked it into the middle. Wanting no more of it, his opponent folded.

Esfandiari is off to a good start with a stack currently sitting at 5,300.

Faraz Fires Away

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

On a board reading {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, Faraz Jaka bet 150 from the hi-jack position and was called by his lone opponent in the cutoff.

The turn brought a {2-Clubs} and Jaka once again fired, this time for 275. His opponent called.

The {8-Spades} landed on the river and Jaka quickly bet the pot for around 1,000. His opponent mucked.

It seems Jaka's stack took a hit earlier and is currently sitting at 3,500 from his original 4,500 starting amount.

Day 1 of $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold'em About to Begin

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 0 ante
The Coveted WSOP Bracelet
The Coveted WSOP Bracelet

Welcome to the first day of our coverage of Event #1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em. Last year James Dempsey took home the gold bracelet for this event, earning a total prize of $197,470. There were 650 entrants that played this event last year and we're hoping that we can top that number this year.

Past notables who have made it deep in this event include John-Paul Kelly, who won last year, as well as JJ Liu, who came in third at that final table. David Singer won the bracelet for this event in 2009, and Mike Spegal defeated Gavin Smith heads up in this event in 2007.

This year players will be starting with 4,500 in chips and playing nine handed. The button will be beginning in seat 9 with starting blinds at 25/25. In order to advance to the second day of this event, players will have to survive ten levels of play today. Notables found taking their seats so far in today's event include defending champion James Dempsey, David Singer, Jeff Madsen, Antonio Esfandiari, Paul Magriel, Shannon Shorr, and Tony Dunst.

Action will be underway soon and we'll be here providing you all of the most up to date tournament information here on PokerNews!
