Wax On, Wax Off Part Two

Nivel 18 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Four players saw an {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. Men Nguyen led out and was called by Matthew Waxman and Guillaume Rivet before another player folded. On the {Q-Spades} turn, Nguyen bet again and was called by both players once more. Nguyen fired one last bullet on the {4-Diamonds} river which was called by Waxman but got Rivet to fold. Nguyen instantly threw his hand into the muck without showing. Waxman let out a laugh and clapped as he showed {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for just two pair.

God Save the Queen

Nivel 18 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

In about 4 hands, 2010 WSOPE Main Event Champion James Bord went from mis-reading his hand for a flush (and giving away half his stack), doubling up James Dempsey, and the very next hand busting through Dempsey.

We caught the whole hand where Bord doubled up Dempsey.

Dempsey got it all in preflop for 23,000 and Bord made the call.

Bord had {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Dempsey had {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

The flop came {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Spades} giving Dempsey trips and Bord a pair of tens to go with the sixes on the board. The turn came {J-Spades} to give Bord a better two pair, but the {8-Spades} on the river didn't improve Bord and he shipped the big pot to Dempsey.

He was left with 23,000 and Dempsey chipped up to 55,000. We didn't catch the next hand, but Bord busted through Dempsey who now is left with around 85,000.

At the very least, Bord can be happy that he donated his chips to his buddy and fellow Brit.

Cunningham Triples Up

Nivel 18 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Allen Cunningham was all in preflop against Matthew Waxman and Guillaume Rivet. The flop was {J-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Waxman check called Rivet’s bet. On the {8-Clubs} turn, Waxman check folded to another Rivet bet. Cunningham showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, Rivet {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. The {2-Diamonds} river double paired the board and made no low possible. This meant that Cunningham’s two pair was good for the scoop and a much needed triple up to 65,000. Waxman dropped down to 145,000 and Rivet to 125,000.

Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Erik Seidel check-called a 4,000 bet on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} against Michael Simon before both checked the {A-Diamonds} turn. Seidel then fired out on the river {9-Spades} for 8,000 and Simon called.

Seidel: {A-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for aces and nines, seven kicker and deuce-five low.
Simon: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades} for aces and nines, jack kicker and no qualifying low.

Chop it up.

Barbaro Storms Into Lead

Francesco Barbaro looks to be the new chip leader with over 200,000. He just added even more to his stack betting 8,000 on the turn of a {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} board against Guillaume Rivet before both checked the {10-Diamonds} river. Barbaro turned over {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds} for nines and fives and Rivet could only muck. The French-Canadian former chip leader is down to about 63,000 now.
