Internet Woes

The internet connection in the Rio Pavillion is quite spotty today. As a result, our updates may be a bit infrequent. However, we will do our best to update the players' chip counts to provide you with the big stacks and eliminations throughout the day.

It's Stud Hi-Low Championship Time!

Frank Kassela - 2010 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better World Champion
Frank Kassela - 2010 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better World Champion

Welcome to Day 1 of PokerNews' coverage of Event #33, the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Championship. Last year this event drew 170 players and emerging at the top was none other than 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela. Coincidentally, the 2009 champion was 2009 WSOP player of the year Jeff Lisandro. So good things would appear to be in store for the eventual winner!

For his win last year, Kassela earned a cool $447,446. He defeated a final table that included the like of Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler, Jennifer Harman, Steve Zolotow, and John Juanda. We expect a similar strong, yet smallish, field to be in action this year hoping to earn the title of champion and win the coveted WSOP gold bracelet.

Play is expected to kick off at 5:00pm local time, about 45 minutes from now. So be sure to keep it here at PokerNews to keep track of the action!
