Last Break of the Night

Nivel 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Players are now on their last 20-minute break of the day. When they return, they'll play two more levels before calling it a night. In addition, tournaments officials will be using this break to race of the purple T500 chips.

Grospellier Gaining Momentum As Well as Chips

On a {4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} board with around 70,000 already in the pot Bertrand Grospellier put out a 33,000 chip bet into Dmitry Gromov. Gromov took a couple of minutes to decide what it was he wanted to do. Eventually he decided to call and threw the chips in the middle. Grospellier showed {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a pair of nines and Gromov mucked. Once seeing the pair of nines Gromov started talking to himself in Russian and even got up and walked around the table area for awhile cooling himself off.

Pocket Rockets No Good Against a Set

Joe Ebanks raised to 12,000 under the gun only to have Bassel Moussa three-bet to 30,000. Lee Markholt decided to make a call from the small blind, while Ebanks called behind. Action checked around to Moussa on the {4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop and he fired out a respectable 72,000. Markholt made a quick folded, Ebanks moved all in, and Moussa quickly called off his last 80,000.

Moussa: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Ebanks: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Moussa no doubt liked his pocket rockets preflop, but he was none too happy to see the top set of Ebanks. Neither the {J-Diamonds} turn nor {3-Diamonds} river helped Moussa and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Sowers Sees Through Moorman

Chris Moorman started this hand off by making it 14,000 to anyone willing to pay to see a flop. Phil Laak and Mike Sowers paid the toll and were awarded a {2-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{A-Hearts} flop.

It was on the flop that Moorman placed a 30,000 chip bet in the middle of the table. Laak folded, but Sowers made the call.

With the {3-Spades} on the turn both players knocked the felt. We had a repeat of action with the {j-Clubs} river as both players again checked. Moorman stated "king high" while Sowers flipped over {6-}{6-}.

Paur Slipping, But Still At The Top

We recently caught two back-to-back hands at Taylor Paur's table with Paur on the losing end of both.

First, on a {Q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} board, he called Matthew Hyman's river bet of 100,000, but mucked when Hyman tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}.

On the following hand, he attempted to push Chris Klodnicki off of a {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades}{K-Clubs} board with a river bet, but Klodnicki called {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}, besting Paur's {J-Spades}{4-Spades} bluff.

"Ten . . . TEN!"

After Thorsten Schafer raised to 12,500 preflop, Aaron Jones moved all in for 82,000 and received a quick call from his opponent.

Schafer: {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Jones: {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

Jones was at risk and in need of some help, which he found on the {10-Spades}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop. When the {10-Diamonds} appeared on the river, Schafer began calling out, "Ten. TEN!" Indeed, if quads were put out on the board, Schafer's ace would play and eliminate Jones.

While that would have been an interesting turn of events, it was not meant to be as the {2-Clubs} bricked. Jones doubled on the hand while Schafer took a hit to his big stack.
