Howzit, Ms. Banfield?

As we were wandering the tables, we came across the monster stack of Melanie Banfield, who is now holding more than 40,000 in chips. You may have recognized her from her 34th place finish in the $1,500 Limit Hold'em Event earlier in the series, but she's accomplished far more than that.

To date, Banfield has cashed more than $278,000 in tournament winnings, including five WSOP cashes with the biggest coming from a runner-up finish in the WSOP Circuit Event at the Emerald Casino in South Africa.

She'll definitely be one of the ones to watch throughout this event!

Say My Nehme, Say My Nehme

Nivel 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

Lea Nehme was short stacked and in the big blind as action folded around to the button, who happened to be one of the few men who entered the Ladies Championship. He limped, the small blind folded, and Nehme moved all in for 2,525 more. The big blind thought for a moment before making the call.

Nehme: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Man: {6-Spades}{3-Spades}

"Really, six-three?" Nehme questioningly. Her opponent just shrugged and then watched the flop come down {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, giving him two pair. Nehme was clearly unhappy and desperately needed to catch an ace to stay alive. The {2-Diamonds} turn wasn't it, and neither was the {10-Diamonds}.

Nehme made a hasty exit from the tournament area.

Wooka Wooka!

On a flop that read {J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, the player in the small blind checked to Wooka Kim who bet out; the small blind called and then open-shoved after the dealer produced the {K-Clubs} on the turn.

Kim snap-called and small blind players showed {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} but was trailing Kim's {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Kim's set then improved to a full house after the repeat {K-Spades} came down on the river and she's now just under 11,000 in chips as she moves to her new table.

Balding Takes One Down

Gloria Balding
Gloria Balding

Gloria Balding opened for 650 from middle position and found one caller in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the player in the big blind checked, prompting a 900 c-bet from Balding. Her opponent mucked without much hesitation.

Balding is up to 5,700.

Brown Survives the River

Nivel 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

With a board reading {6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{A-Spades}, Traci Brown moved all in for 5,375 from middle position. Her sole opponent, a woman in the cutoff, thought for a few moments and then called off her stack of 4,500.

Brown: {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Brown was ahead with two pair, but she needed to dodge a lot of cards on the river, including any club. Both players were clearly anxious as the dealer burned and put out the {10-Spades}. Brown headed to her supporters on the rail for a brief celebration as her opponent was sent to the rail.

O'Brien Gets Clipped

Nivel 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

We went over to Lana O'Brien's table and saw that she was in the middle of a big pot, but unfortuantely, she was in rough shape. O'Brien raised on the button, and the big blind shoved all in for around 10,000. O'Brien decided to make the call, and saw that the big blind woke up with a monster.

O'Brien: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Big Blind: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Any hopes that she had of pulling a sick suckout virtually went out the door when the flop came out {3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. The turn provided her with some hope when it came the {5-Diamonds}. Even though it gave her opponent a straight, she could catch a six or ace for a chop pot. However, the river came the {9-Clubs}, and O'Brien shipped most of her stack over to her opponent, leaving her with just 2,000.
