Monnette Punishes Puchkov on River

We caught up with the action heads up on a {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop where Konstantin Puchkov moved all in for his last 10,000 and John Monnette called.

Puchkov: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Monnette: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Puchkov was ahead with his pair of aces and stayed ahead when made two pair when the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. However when the {K-Hearts} landed on the river, Monnette hit his inside-straight draw to win the hand and eliminate his opponent.

Two Pair No Good When Your Opponent Has a Flush

It was folded around to Jason Steinberg in the hijack who raised to 2,800 only to get three-bet by Jeff Kimber who was next to act. Steinberg made the call and then fired out 18,000 after quite some thought on the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. Kimber quickly raised enough to put Steinberg all in for the 10,000 or so he had left who called.

Kimber: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Steinberg: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}

Both players had low draws but Kimber was ahead with his pair of aces for the time being and stayed ahead when the {K-Hearts} hit the turn that gave him a flush draw as well. The river was the {10-Hearts} which gave Steinberg two pair but also provided Kimber with his flush as Steinberg slammed the table and was eliminated.

Richey Seeks a Double

An under-the-gun player raised to 2,500 only to have Brett Richey move all in for 8,300 from middle position. Action folded back to UTG and he made the call.

Richey: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades}{J-Hearts}
UTG: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop was good for Richey as it assured him a low, although it didn't do much for his high hand. The {10-Spades} turn and {2-Diamonds} river meant a chopped pot for Richey, who is still short with 10,000.

Fitoussi Quarters MacPhee Who Then busts

We caught up with the action heads up on a {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop where Bruno Fitoussi called Kevin MacPhee’s bet of 5,000. On the {6-Clubs} turn, Fitoussi bet pot and MacPhee called all in.

Fitoussi: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}
MacPhee: {A-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Fitoussi held the nut flush while MacPhee had a set and a low and could scoop the pot if the board paired. The {4-Hearts} river gave each player the same low but didn’t fill MacPhee up as he got quartered down to 8,600. Shortly after that, MacPhee was eliminated.
