Phil Collins Eliminated in 5th Place ($2,269,599)

Nivel 39 : 500,000/1,000,000, 150,000 ante
Phil Collins - 5th place
Phil Collins - 5th place

Hand #100:

Martin Staszko had the button. Pius Heinz raised to 2.1 million under the gun, and the table folded around to the big blind. Phil Collins was the last one to act, and shoved all in for 18.3 million. When it came back around to the German, he took about a minute to make sure, then called with his monster stack to put Collins at risk for his tournament life. Cards up, gents.

Showdown
Heinz: {9-Clubs} {9-Hearts}
Collins: {A-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}

Collins needed some help, and the {6-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} flop was a fine start. He was still behind, but he flopped the open ender to add eight outs to his repertoire.

Turn: {9-Diamonds}

That's quite a turn card, giving Heinz the set but adding even more outs for Collins. His ace was dead now, but he was looking for any three, eight, or diamond to bink another double.

River: {7-Spades}

That's close but no cigar, and it's the end of the road for Collins. He receives a pay bump up over $2 million, a fine consolation prize for a remarkable Main Event run.

As he walked out the door, Collins was serenaded one last time by his cheering section. "Oh, Phil."

Hand #99:

Ben Lamb had the button.

Eoghan O'Dea raised all in for 2.3 million. Martin Staszko thought about it for a little bit from the small blind and then raised to five million. Everyone else folded.

Staszko: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
O'Dea: {Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} before the {J-Diamonds} landed on the turn. The {2-Hearts} on the river ended the hand and O'Dea;s tournament, shipping him out the door in sixth place for $1,720,831.

Hand #97: Lamb Finds the River to Cripple O'Dea

Nivel 38 : 400,000/800,000, 100,000 ante

Phil Collins started the hand with the button.

Eoghan O'Dea raised to 1.6 million from the cutoff seat. Ben Lamb reraised all in from the big blind for 14.225 million. After a few minutes of tanking, O'Dea called.

O'Dea: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Lamb: {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Not only did Lamb have his cheering section on his side, but most of Phil Collins' fans joined in rooting for him, as they have been doing for most of the day.

The flop came down {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Lamb added a diamond flush draw. O'Dea was still in the lead, though.

The turn {4-Clubs} changed nothing, but the {8-Hearts} on the river slammed Lamb with the winning hand and the theatre erupted in cheers. A green mob of Lamb fans moshed together in the front rows of the stands while Collins' section right in front of us on stage roared.

Lamb moved to just about 30 million while O'Dea was crushed down to 2.6 million.
