The Legend of Lowball

Another player spotted today is seven time bracelet winner Billy Baxter, of which five bracelets came in deuce to seven. Arguably the greatest lowball player in the world, he's after number eight here today.

Another players spotted arriving include MIchael Binger, Huck Seed and Jean-Robert Bellande.

Enter the Brunson

Nivel 1 : 25/25, 10 ante

Doyle Brunson is playing the Lowball event here today, his first event of the series and is sharing a table with Bertrand Grospellier.

Other interesting tables see Jimmy Fricke next to JC Tran and Layne Flack sharing a table with John Racener.

Schneider Scoops

Tom Schneider is already up to 3,000 (technically 6,000 with add-ons) after he won a stack from another player on his table when he showed {9-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-} to win. Not a bad start for the former player of the year.

Welcome to Event#9: $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball

It's the Deuce to Seven Lowball event, one of the most high variance gambling games that we'll see at the WSOP this year. Last year Yan Chen won this event ahead of Mike Wattel to win a bracelet and $92,817 for his first place finish.

For those who are unfamiliar with deuce to seven, players are dealt five cards and are allowed to draw between none and all of their cards before another round of betting. {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} is the nut hand but the scope for big plays is huge as you get no information about the other players' hand apart from their betting amount and the number of cards they are drawing.

Play begins at 5pm.
